Provides students with appropriate learning activities and experiences designed to fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical and social growth.

Job Qualifications

EDUCATION

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required.

WORK EXPERIENCE

Prior teaching experience in a similar role preferred *Applicants who do not meet these work experience qualifications may be considered if they have a unique combination of education and work experience that may meet requirements for a school district permit.

LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITIES

-No supervisory responsibilities. May provide occasional work guidance, technical advice, and training to staff.

WORK COMPLEXITY/INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT

-Work involves the application of moderately complex procedures and tasks that are quite varied. Independent judgment is often required to select and apply the most appropriate of available resources. Ongoing supervision is provided on an "as needed" basis.

-Collaborate and solve problems - work with others to resolve problems, clarify, or interpret complex information/policies, and provide initial screening/negotiations without approval authority. Interactions are typically with customers, senior level professional staff, and managers.

-Takes routine or required customer actions to meet customer needs. Responds promptly and accurately to customer complaints, inquiries and requests for information and coordinates appropriate follow-up. May handle escalated issues passed on from coworkers or subordinates.

WORKING/ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

-Work is normally performed in a typical interior work environment which does not subject the employee to any hazardous or unpleasant elements. Ability to carry and/or lift less than 15 pounds.

  1. Plan a program of study that, as much as possible, meets the individual needs, interests, and abilities of the students.
  2. Create a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students.
  3. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
  4. Prepare for classes assigned and show written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  5. Encourage students to set and maintain standards of classroom behavior.
  6. Guide the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establish clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to the students.
  7. Employ a variety of instructional techniques and instructional media consistent with the physical limitations of the location provided, and the needs and capabilities of the individuals or student groups involved.
  8. Strive to implement, by instruction and action, the district's philosophy of education and instructional goals and objectives.
  9. Assess the accomplishments of the students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required.
  10. Refer students for evaluation by district specialists as required.
  11. Take necessary and reasonable precautions to protect the students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
  12. Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  13. Assist the administration in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct. Develop reasonable rules of classroom behavior. Maintain order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
  14. Make provisions for being available to the students and to the parents for education-related purposes when required.
  15. Plan and supervise purposeful assignments for teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s) and, cooperatively with department heads, evaluating their job performance.
  16. Maintain and improve professional competence.
  17. Participate in district staff development.
  18. Attend staff meetings and serve on staff committees
  19. Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues.
  20. Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents, and community members.
