About the Role:
The Authorizations role within the Health Care Services industry is pivotal in ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate access to medical services by managing and processing healthcare authorizations efficiently. This position involves coordinating with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and internal teams to verify coverage, obtain necessary approvals, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. The successful candidate will play a critical role in reducing delays in patient care by accurately interpreting insurance policies and facilitating communication between all parties involved. Additionally, this role requires meticulous attention to detail to manage documentation and track authorization statuses to support seamless healthcare delivery. Ultimately, the Authorizations professional contributes to enhancing patient satisfaction and operational efficiency within the healthcare organization.
Location: Sarasota-General Surgery
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher in a related field preferred.
- Experience in healthcare administration, medical billing, or insurance authorization processes.
- Familiarity with healthcare insurance plans, medical terminology, and authorization procedures.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working within a health care services environment, particularly in authorization or utilization management roles in specialty.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and healthcare compliance standards.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
Responsibilities:
- Review and process authorization requests for various medical procedures and services in accordance with insurance guidelines and company policies.
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and internal departments to obtain and verify necessary information for authorization approvals.
- Maintain accurate records of all authorization activities, ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational standards.
- Monitor authorization statuses and follow up on pending requests to prevent delays in patient care.
- Assist in resolving any discrepancies or issues related to authorizations by collaborating with relevant stakeholders.
