Job Title: Project Engineer

The Opportunity:
Barminco Mining Service has an exciting opportunity for a Project Engineer to join our team at a project location 65 miles outside of Elko, Nevada. Reporting to the Project Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring site commercial and accounting tasks and implementing business improvement projects.

Location: 65 Miles outside of Elko, Nevada
Shift: 14-days on / 14-days off rotation

Accommodation: Charter transportation from muster point. Camp and meals provided.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Upholds Barminco’s core principles:

  • Actively manage and prioritize the sites compliance to contractual obligations.
  • Monitor site commercial and accounting tasks, raising issues with any abnormalities or potential opportunities.
  • Works closely with the project manager and mining superintendent to identify and investigate any business improvement opportunities
  • Assist project management team in the development of business improvement project plans and manage sections of those plans allocated to them.
  • Monitor plods and lodge applicable delay modifier claims to the client in a timely fashion.
  • Complete interim data checks on MinRep entries and correct any accuracy issues that arise
  • Compile all relevant data for the completion of the end of month claim, lodging it to the client in a timely manner.
  • Compile a draft claim for end of month revenue accruals. Couple the revenue accrual with cost accruals for any costs incurred but not receipted in the month, or upcoming costs relevant to the month.
  • Complete relevant monthly reports for the monthly Health Check meetings.
  • Assist the foreman with any process changes that increase supervisors’ productivity and effectiveness.
  • Act as Barminco representative when project management team is offsite.
  • Attend and scrutinize short term plan and weekly plan meetings. Raise any issues to foreman or project manager as required
  • Request contract variations where required.
  • Assist in contract renewal and re-modelling

Qualifications:

  • BA in Mining Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience managing and administering Mining Contracts.
  • Good knowledge of mining operations and equipment.
  • Experience reviewing and monitoring contract performance and conditions.
  • Review and manage performance against contract and delivery through service level agreement/KPI metrics and client feedback.
  • Conduct contract review meetings.
  • General knowledge of mining companies and vendors supporting the mining industry.
  • Strong client focus with regard to commercial, technical and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze contractual information.
  • Dependably exercise sound judgement and decisions.
  • Strong sense of urgency and outcomes focused.
  • Experience of providing supportive specialist advice and management to internal and external clients.
  • Excellent communications skills and ability to manage diverse and in some instances multi-cultural teams.

Work Conditions:

  • Mandatory to stay at camp while working on a rotational basis (dayshift/nightshift), typically the rotations are 14 days on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 14 days off, working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions
  • Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required
  • Extreme weather conditions
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
