See for yourself.As a key member of the Enabling Technologies team, you will play an integral part in helping Enovis drive the medical technology industry forward through transforming patient care and creating better patient outcomes.**Title:**Enabling Technologies Technical Lead**Location:**Austin, Texas**Job Title / High Level Position Summary*** We are seeking an experienced and collaborative Enabling Technologies Technical Lead to provide technical leadership for the design, development, and delivery of innovative orthopedic technology solutions supporting Enovis' Enabling Technologies portfolio. This role is responsible for leading technical execution across development projects while partnering closely with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable, high-quality, and compliant medical device mechatronic solutions.* The Technology Lead will work closely with Product Management, Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, and Program Management to define technical architecture, guide development activities, review software designs, and mentor engineering teams throughout the product development lifecycle. This position requires strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to influence technical decisions across multidisciplinary teams.* The ideal candidate is a hands-on technical leader who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, mentoring engineers, and driving continuous improvement while delivering innovative medical technology solutions. **Key Responsibilities*** Provide technical leadership across multidisciplinary product development programs from concept through commercialization, including software, algorithms, electronics, mechanical systems, orthopedic instrumentation and visualization technologies.* Define and maintain overall system architecture, ensuring seamless integration of hardware, software, sensors, optics, visualization, instrumentation, and enabling technologies.* Lead technical design reviews covering system architecture, software, embedded systems, algorithms, electronics, mechanical designs, manufacturability, usability, and clinical workflow.* Drive development of navigation, visualization, computer vision, sensor fusion, image processing, automation, and other enabling technologies supporting orthopedic procedures.* Collaborate with Product Management, Clinical, Systems Engineering, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Manufacturing, and Program Management to translate clinical and business requirements into robust technical solutions.* Provide technical leadership throughout the medical device development lifecycle, ensuring compliance with applicable FDA, MDR, IEC, and ISO requirements.* Mentor multidisciplinary engineering teams while fostering technical excellence, innovation, and sound engineering practices.* Identify technical risks across hardware, software, instrumentation, algorithms, manufacturing, and clinical workflows and develop effective mitigation strategies.* Support verification, validation, usability engineering, and design transfer activities to ensure safe and effective products.* Evaluate emerging technologies in navigation, augmented reality, artificial intelligence, sensors, visualization, and automation for future product roadmaps.* Partner with Manufacturing and Operations to ensure designs are robust, manufacturable, serviceable, and scalable.* Drive innovation through invention disclosures, patent development, technology roadmaps, and continuous improvement initiatives. **Scope / Role Dimensions*** Provides technical leadership across multiple medical device development programs and technology platforms.* Influences technology strategy, system architecture, and engineering direction across software, hardware, algorithms, instrumentation and visualization.* Serves as the primary technical authority for multidisciplinary product development efforts.* Works closely with Clinical, Regulatory, Manufacturing, Product Management, Quality, and Engineering organizations.* Supports multiple concurrent development programs while balancing technical excellence, regulatory compliance, schedule, cost, and product quality. **Minimum Qualifications*** Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, etc.) or related technical discipline; Master's degree preferred.* Minimum 7 years of experience developing complex medical devices or related technology products.* Demonstrated experience leading multidisciplinary engineering teams.* Strong systems engineering background integrating software, electronics, mechanical systems, and algorithms.* Experience with medical device design controls and product development processes.* Strong understanding of system architecture, technical risk management, verification and validation, and product lifecycle management.* Excellent analytical, organizational, leadership, and communication skills.* Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence technical and business stakeholders. **Desired Qualifications*** Experience developing orthopedic navigation, visualization, or image-guided surgical systems.* Experience with computer vision, sensor fusion, inertial navigation, optical tracking, or image processing.* Experience with mechatronics, automation, or advanced control systems.* Experience developing orthopedic instrumentation or capital medical equipment.* Familiarity with IEC 62304, ISO 13485, ISO 14971, IEC 60601 series, FDA Design Controls, and EU MDR.* Experience bringing Class II and/or Class III medical devices from concept through commercialization.* Experience leading multidisciplinary engineering organizations.* Patent portfolio or demonstrated history of technical innovation preferred. **Core Competencies*** Technical Leadership: Provides clear technical direction while driving engineering excellence and innovation.* Strategic Thinking: Aligns technology decisions with business objectives and long-term product strategy.* Collaboration & Influence: Builds strong relationships and effectively influences cross-functional teams without direct authority.* Execution Excellence: Delivers high-quality technical solutions while balancing timelines, quality, and business priorities.* Problem Solving: Analyzes complex technical challenges and develops scalable, practical solutions.* Communication: Clearly communicates technical concepts, project status, risks, and recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.* Mentorship: Develops engineering talent by coaching, mentoring, and promoting best practices.**Travel Requirements**Minimal to moderate travel as business needs require. **Who We're Looking For**We are seeking a technology leader with broad expertise across medical device development who is passionate about advancing orthopedic care through innovative technologies.
