Job description

As an Audio-Visual Programmer at Network Cabling Services (NCS), you'll be challenged to excel on a daily basis. You'll see entire projects through to successful completion and work with some of the most cutting-edge equipment in the audiovisual industry today.


NCS is looking for a results-driven AV Programmer in the Houston area who shares our values of Quality, Communication, Customer Service, Integrity, and Safety. Job Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret AV system drawings, schematics, and signal flow diagrams
  • Gather and document programming requirements from engineering designs and client specifications
  • Design, create, and test new control system modules and custom touch panel / GUI interfaces
  • Program control processors, touch panels, audio DSPs, and AV peripherals (Crestron, Extron, AMX, QSC, Biamp, Valcom, and similar platforms)
  • Perform system commissioning, pre-installation checkout, and testing of code prior to and during deployment
  • Perform on-site troubleshooting and provide technical support during installation and commissioning phases
  • Create end-user training materials, as-built documentation, and other program-related documents
  • Participate in peer code reviews to support code quality and consistency
  • Update and maintain programming code in installed systems
  • Maintain control code in a version control system
  • Travel to various job sites as needed


What It Takes to Be Successful


Education & Experience

  • Formal education or training in electronics, IT, software, engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered
  • 5+ years of experience programming AV control systems (Crestron, Extron, AMX, QSC, Valcom, and various DSP platforms) required


Certifications

  • AVIXA Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) preferred
  • CTS-I, or manufacturer-specific certifications (e.g., Crestron Programmer/CMP, Extron Control Professional, AMX Programmer, QSC Q-SYS) a plus


Technical Skills

  • Hands-on programming experience with Crestron (SIMPL, SIMPL+, S#), Extron (GlobalScripter), AMX (NetLinx/Duet), and QSC Q-SYS
  • Experience configuring and tuning audio DSPs (Biamp, QSC, Extron, or similar)
  • Working knowledge of AV-over-IP and streaming protocols (Dante, NDI, AVB) and general networking fundamentals (IP addressing, VLANs)
  • Ability to read and work from AutoCAD or similar AV system drawings
