Job description

This position is responsible for the set-up, maintenance, and take-down of banquet areas according to banquet specifications. Provides the transportation and set-up of tables, chairs, staging, audio-visual and electrical equipment. Stocks necessary supplies and performs basic banquet area cleaning duties. Follows CSM and brand standards of quality to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Ensures each room set-up is accurate and meets the clients’ specifications.
• According to function specifications, sets up, maintains, and takes down banquet rooms after service/event has concluded.
• Listens attentively, following direction from banquet supervisors.
• Reads and interprets Banquet Event Orders to ensure proper room set up.
• Responsible for cleaning and maintaining the banquet rooms and equipment, and other cleaning duties as assigned.
• Often asked to transport food, assist the dishwasher and plate for banquet events.
• Works independently and sometimes alone.
• Anticipates and responds to internal and external customers in a friendly, positive and timely manner.
• Works as a team player in meeting guests needs, and actively contributes to the efforts of other departments when necessary.
• Responsible for proper use of all banquet collateral and equipment.
• Adheres to cost controls to reduce expenses and waste.
• Brings defective property to the attention of management.
• Maintains a clean and safe work area in accordance with CSM, local, state, and federal regulations.
• Follows all CSM procedures for guest/associate incidents.
• Knowledgeable of hotel emergency procedures.
• Produces required volume of work by planning, organizing and prioritizing work duties.
• Adheres to CSM attendance policy, grooming/appearance standards, general work rules and department procedures.
• Attends all required department and hotel meetings.
• Willingly assists others within and outside the department to ensure all guest needs are met.
• Completes all assigned duties within or outside the normal scope of responsibilities.
Competencies/Skills Required: Must have demonstrated exemplary customer service, attention to detail, and ability to perform job duties in a repetitious and fast paced environment.
Education: No mandatory educational requirements.
Physical Requirements: Ability to lift, push and pull up to 75 pounds consistently throughout shift, and up to 100 pounds on an occasional basis. Requires ability to work in a physically demanding position, with responsibilities such as walking, standing, carrying, lifting, reaching, bending and moving throughout the shift.
Competencies/Skills Preferred: High School diploma or GED preferred, and the ability to read and communicate at least some English. Prefer one or more years of previous experience in a houseperson or banquet houseperson role.
