What You'll Contribute
An Audio and Video Engineer I will be responsible for supporting the planning, administration, and technical support of Microsoft Teams Room system capabilities. Includes providing onsite event management support for strategic meeting events and conferences.
What You'll Do
Event Administration, Support, and system Implementation (40%)
  • Manage and support Sallie Mae conferencing technology platforms and events. Contribute to recommendations or alternatives that address existing and potential trouble areas in event operations across the site.
  • Ensure accurate system setup and new feature implementation in event technology stack. Currently these include Microsoft Teams, Webex, and Zoom.
  • Work closely with Manager of Conferencing Technology, vendors and Sallie Mae event owners to create & execute implementation & testing timelines; Ensure timely implementation & smooth operations of event technology systems for attendees.
  • Partner with Desktop Support and vendors to plan hardware and infrastructure setup for events.
  • Contribute to modification recommendations to process workflows to optimize user experience.
  • Consult staff on using MS Teams features to create engaging virtual events.
  • Ensure compatibility and interoperability of events with Sallie Mae conferencing platforms.
  • Support testing, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems. Provide post-implementation support.
  • Oversee active maintenance of system and business process documentation and training.
  • Travel is required occasionally related to job responsibilities, especially for the annual leadership meetings.

Strategy, Planning and Deployment (25%)
  • Assist the Manager of Conferencing Technology to facilitate event planning and scope discussions with event owners across the organization.
  • Assist with the review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of conferencing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
  • Assist the Manager of Conferencing Technology to create and maintain realistic timelines in conjunction with event stakeholders for setup and implementation of MS Team's events.
  • Stay abreast of developments in virtual event technologies. Actively research and recommend emerging technologies to support innovation in Sallie Mae meetings and events.

Vendor Management (15%)
  • Support the implementation of Conferencing Technology platforms and services.
  • Convey Sallie Mae strategic and operational needs to vendors; translate those needs into appropriate scopes of work, timelines, work plans, and budgets in consultation with the Manager of Conferencing Technology.
  • Partner closely with external vendors to provide technology infrastructure support; ensure contracts and service level agreements are fulfilled.

Documentation and Training (15%)
  • Assist with developing and maintaining current documentation on all supported systems to support knowledge transfer across the team and the organization.
  • Assist team members in formulating and conducting training sessions and teaching materials for propagating enterprise software applications knowledge throughout the organization.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining training materials for users of Sallie Mae conferencing technologies.
  • Coordinate and perform in-depth testing, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems, and provide post-implementation support.
  • Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
  • Provide guidance and/or instruction to new staff members.

Preferred: Indicate "nice to haves" regarding education, skills, and experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • 1-2 years of experience in managing virtual meeting platforms or a related technical role.
