Job description

Title: Voice Designer

Location: On-site Fremont, CA, Burlingame, CA, or Seattle, WA

Duration: 6 months

Compensation: $45-50/hr

Work Requirements: US Citizen, GC Holders or Authorized to Work in the U.S.


Summary:

The Creative Audio team is looking for an experienced Voice Designer to join our Voice Team working across platforms. The candidate should be passionate about high-quality product sound and enhancing the user experience through audio. Ideally, the candidate should have experience with voice and conversation design. A background in sound design and an enthusiasm for innovative audio design is a must.


Job Responsibilities:

Manage phases of voice design, implementation, deployment, and support ongoing quality control initiatives

Oversee multiple voice projects and manage voice audio libraries using content management systems

Focus on localization of data collection.

Adapt communication to collaborate with teams across a variety of disciplines, including voice research scientists, software engineers, and product managers

Responsible for defining creative and technical voice design requirements

Support evaluation of voice talent casting

Drive projects to completion in a fast-paced and highly fluid environment

Investigate, triage, escalate, and follow up on reported bugs

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and vendors


Required Skills:

2+ years in text-to-speech voice development, technical sound design, or equivalent experience

Experience working with XFN project teams and vendors

Strong critical listening skills, experience with verifying audio quality on software and hardware with a proven ear for maintaining high quality

Experience with voice production or audio post production, including casting, recording, editing, and mastering

Proficiency in digital audio workstations and editing tools (Pro Tools and Izotope RX preferred)

Comfortable using command-line interface (CLI) tools for daily tasks and troubleshooting

Strong understanding of DSP, audio synthesis, and digital audio concepts and formats

Familiarity with QA processes, test plans, and bug tracking

Strong communication skills, written and verbal

Preferred Skills:

Scripting or programming experience (e.g. Python, C++)

Experience using version control systems to review, track, and land code changes

Experience navigating complex file systems and large codebases to locate, review, and understand code

Familiarity with AI and generative AI systems (e.g. LLMs), and/or text-to-speech model training

Experience with tuning audio hardware experiences using sound tools and/or DSP
