Position Summary

We are seeking an Assistant Editor to join our pioneering team in creating animated content using experimental GenAI-native production pipelines. This Assistant Editor will work with the Lead Editor, Associate Producer, and other production staff to support a fast-paced, experimental animation production process, leveraging both generative AI and traditional tools to create feature-quality content in a creator- and artist- led environment. The Assistant Editor should have a strong grasp of animation workflows and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the editorial project in support of the editorial team. In this role, you will not only support traditional editorial but also assist in building and refining workflows where AI-generated content is integrated in real-time. You should thrive in an innovative environment where processes are evolving weekly.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ingest deliveries, communicating any missing footage or discrepancies to the production team in a timely manner

  • Create and transcode media for editorial turnovers and publish to the creative team, studio executives, and other studio functions

  • Track approvals, cut versions and outputs from editorial, adhering to studio conventions

  • Maintain a high level of Quality Control standards for following technical and security specifications. This is a highly detailed position

  • Collaborate with grace, humility, inclusion, and open-mindedness

  • Ensure Edit Tools are functioning properly and report any issues to the TDs

  • Communicate any relevant information regarding any outstanding tasks or issue

  • Help the Editorial department support all areas of production

  • Manage and organize unconventional production assets, including experimental AI generations, prompt-based versioning, and non-traditional media types alongside standard editorial footage

  • Ensure compliance with strict data and security protocols, specifically regarding the handling and documentation of proprietary generative AI training data and assets.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years experience on a Feature or Episodic editorial team, ideally forAnimation

  • 2+ years experience with AVID Media Composer or DaVinci Resolve

  • High tolerance for ambiguity and rapid iteration; proven ability to maintain composure and pivot quickly when production workflows or experimental tools shift

  • Strong knowledge of project organization and archival workflows.

  • Strong knowledge of hardware and software for video and audio format conversion and compression

  • Strong understanding of video and audio file formats and metadata.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal

  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Flix, Media Encoder, and After Effects outputs not required but a plus

  • Knowledge of AI tools, Cursor and other agents, and workflows a plus

  • Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment & deliver and accept feedback

This job may be covered by a collective bargaining agreement. If so, pay for the position is governed by the currently effective applicable collective bargaining agreement and thus will be no less than $55.27 an hour and up to any better conditions and terms negotiated and obtained as expressly provided therein.
