Audio Visual Technician - Casual

The Opportunity

The Audio Visual Technician provides a complete range of audio-visual services and equipment to answer a variety of user requests from all areas of Banff Centre, including clients, visiting artists and/or faculty. 

Roles and Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director, IT/S, below are some key accountabilities:

  • Coordinate and book all equipment requests, verify equipment integrity, deliver equipment, set-up equipment as per client specifications, test equipment to ensure proper function and troubleshoot equipment as needed
  • Sign out equipment for tracking and billing purposes, and retrieve this equipment both on and occasional off campus
  • Manage overbooking of equipment and retrieve equipment after the client is finished, check for damage and verify integrity of all equipment upon return and identify/remedy deficiencies
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs of equipment
  • Meet and/or confer with clients to ascertain their equipment needs; researching creative solutions for client needs and equipment operation instructions to the client may be required.
  • Serve as dedicated Technician/Operator when required
  • Deliver excellent customer service to all clients
  • Address other identified security, safety or operational issues 
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualification and Educational Requirements
  • Minimum 1 year of formal post-secondary training in computing, electronics or another discipline relating to the position
  • Minimum 2 years' of experience in all aspects of Audio Visual delivery and production, including but not confined to design, set-up, operation, and minor maintenance to AV Systems and equipment
  • Competent in the set-up and operation of AV equipment, as well as specialized computer equipment and software used in the recording, production and duplication of audio and video content
  • Excellent clerical skills relating to preparing quotations, invoices and the booking/tracking of equipment are required
  • Valid driver's license 
Special Requirements
  • Due to the nature of the work, the Audio Visual Technician will be expected to be available to work evenings and weekends
Employment Terms & Benefits
  • In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, casual support staff position, working up to 35 hours per month on an on-call basis.
  • This position pays $22.39 per hour.
