Job description

The individual in this position will be the liaison with city ambassadors. He/she will attend all ambassador meetings and is responsible for meeting with business owners/plant managers to coordinate business requests for assistance, gather demographic data, and perform record-keeping.Essential duties include: Completes a variety of administrative tasks. Establishes and coordinates working partnerships with local business and community stakeholders

Goal for employee to secure appointments and meet with at least 120 businesses in the Griffin community per year. Responsible for the development, maintenance, and updating of a tracking system to record all visits, contact information, summary of the visit, and follow-up steps. This information will be shared with the economic development office and pertinent city officials.

Responsible for the creation and maintenance of an Existing Business template for the employee to ask specific questions and record the answers during his or her visits in an effort to develop a battery of information over time for trends. Responsible for following up on business requests for assistance in a timely fashion. Responsible for creating and maintaining an existing industry contact list for Griffin's major employers.

Responsible for coordinating with the Communications and Community Engagement Department on all projects that require economic development participation, including Citizen's Government Academy (CGA), Citizen's Government Academy Jr., and Economic Development Week. Assists with the gathering of demographic data that is pertinent to local businesses and works with the economic development team to share with the appropriate audience. Assists with finding available buildings and properties that can be added to our existing buildings and sites website for marketing purposes

Attends pertinent local and regional workforce development meetings and collaborates with education partners on determining programs and resources businesses need to hire a strong workforce. Partners with the Griffin Spalding Chamber of Commerce on business assistance-related projects and attends the quarterly industrial round tables. Attends pertinent conferences, meetings, and networking events.

Attends DDA (Downtown Development Authority)/URA (Urban Redevelopment Agency) meetings and provides staff support. Assists with the DDA grant and loan programs. In the absence of the Economic Development Director, will perform those functions.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
