Position: Tennis Teaching Professional / Coach

Employment Type: Full-Time & Part-Time

About Us

Advantage Tennis (HCK Recreation, Inc.) is one of New York City’s oldest and most respected indoor tennis and racquet organizations. With more than 50 years of history and a lasting impact on the local tennis community, we serve players ranging from age four to ninety-four and do so across our three main clubs and an extensive network of more than 15 teaching and summer camp locations. As one of the oldest providers of tennis in NYC, we also consistently aim to be the absolute best. Our focus every day is on delivering top-tier experiences in tennis and racquet sports, and we are actively building an exceptional coaching team to help us achieve that goal.


What We Are Looking For (Qualifications)

We are looking for tennis professionals who possess a strong playing background, a consistently strong work ethic, great people skills and the desire to be a part of a team motivated to be the best.


Local Preference: Applicants currently living in or around the NYC metropolitan area are strongly preferred.


Program & Clinic Leadership:

  • Proven ability to effectively manage and lead both Junior and Adult group programs.
  • Must be skilled at running high-energy adult clinics (such as Cardio Tennis, Live Ball, and themed drill sessions) that keep players moving and engaged.
  • Must be fully competent in teaching Junior development progressions.


Playing & Coaching Background:

  • NCAA Division I or Division II collegiate playing experience (or international equivalent).
  • Alternatively, a proven track record of competitive playing experience at a high level (ATP/WTA, ITF, or top-tier junior circuits).


Industry Certifications:

  • Current certification from USPTA and/or PTR.
  • USTA High Performance coaching certifications are a plus.


On-Court Skills:

  • Excellent feeding skills, high energy, and the ability to run organized, fast-paced drills.
  • Solid understanding of modern tennis technique, footwork, and strategy.
  • People skills that foster connection and inclusiveness in our group programs.


Communication & Professionalism:

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a friendly, welcoming demeanor. Able to connect with both parents of juniors and adult club members.
  • Punctual, reliable, and organized.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lessons & Clinics: Conduct private lessons, semi-privates, and structured group clinics for both adults and youth players.
  • Program Assistance: Help market, organize, and run club events, round-robins, cardio tennis sessions, adult leagues, and junior camps.
  • Player Retention: Connect with members and guests, help them achieve their goals, and keep them engaged in club programs.
  • Court Safety: Maintain a safe, clean, and organized environment on the courts.
