SUMMARY: This position is primarily responsible for spearheading the credit union’s business development initiatives across our national footprint while driving membership growth through strategic outreach. Duties will include increasing member penetration at existing sponsor locations, deepening existing sponsor relationships and serving as a credit union member representative. In addition to national expansion, the role includes a critical branch coverage component to ensure seamless service delivery and relationship management in our Columbus, Ohio Branch.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Travels to and develops key sponsor relationships at national site locations.
  • Develops new business opportunities at site locations, including support of corporate initiatives and educational opportunities. Presents recommendations to Manager.
  • Schedules, plans, finalizes all travel and attends site sponsor and business development events.
  • Promotes our products and services to prospective members during table events.
  • Coordinates and presents at credit union and business development webinars and educational initiatives. Coordination includes scheduling ongoing webinars and seminars, building and maintaining the event calendar, purchasing food or giveaways and monitoring all results.
  • Sends business development communications to all sponsor contacts at minimum quarterly.
  • Assists members with the use of the Interactive Teller Machine (ITM)/ATM.
  • Opens, closes, and maintains single employee branch in Columbus, Ohio, partnering with management to provide branch coverage as needed.
  • Utilizes sales and service skills to respond to the needs of sponsor company contacts, members, and prospective members.
  • Opens new in-person membership accounts, certificates of deposit, credit cards, consumer loans, and all other ancillary credit union products and services when supporting the branch, answers member questions, provides account opening information, and ensures that proper paperwork is completed and entered on the computer system.
  • Opens new online membership accounts and supports the auditing process.
  • Achieves sales goals as defined by Manager.
  • Requests marketing communications for site events.
  • Conducts product and rate research assignments in preparation for site visits.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and image while conducting business with members, sponsors, and vendors.
  • Responsible for exceptional member service to every member, internal and external, every time adhering to the ALEC Service Model.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains database of key contacts (CRM) to identify current and future sponsor needs.
  • Assists with the maintenance of the Business Development intranet page.
  • Assists the ATM/Business Development Specialist with troubleshooting any issues with the ITM at the Columbus Branch.
  • Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED), Nationwide Multistate Licensing System (NMLS) Certification.
  • Education Preferred: Associate’s degree in Business Administration or related field.
  • Experience Required: A minimum of three (3) years of customer service, sales or lending experience in a financial institution.
  • Experience Preferred: A minimum of five (5) years of customer service, sales or lending experience in a financial institution.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and have the ability to rent a car while on site visits. Employee is responsible for driving to site locations.


TRAVEL: Up to 75% travel – estimated 25% local travel in Columbus, Ohio and 50% national travel. Travel to the Gurnee, Illinois site may be required for periodic training.
