Job description

Your role
Your mission of the Boiler Test Fire Technician is to prepare, set up and perform test fires on rental boilers and related equipment before deployment to customer sites. This roles ensures each unit meets operational, safety, and performance standards required for industrial applications, including petrochemical, refining, manufacturing, utilities, and construction environments. The technican works closely with operations, service, and quality teams to support rapid turnaround and reliable fleet readiness.
You will
  • Report into the workshop service supervisor.
  • Set up rental boilers, burners, fuel systems, temporary piping, and controls for test fire in a Specialty Rental shop environment
  • Perform controlled test firres to verify proper operations, combustion efficiency, and safety system functionality before unites are dispatched
  • Record pressures, temperatures, emissions, and performance data for each unit
  • Evaluate boiler condition and readiness as part of fleet maintenance cycles
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, or control issues and coordinate repairs with technicians or fabricators
  • Diagnose combustion, control, fuel delivery, and mechanical issues during test fire
  • Follow all safety protocols for combustion testing, fuel handling, electrical work, and pressurized systems
  • Ensure complaince with NFPA, ASME, internal SOPs, and customer-specific safety requirements
  • Other duties as assigned
To succeed, you will need

  • You have 2 to 5 years of experience in industrial manufacturing, rental equipment, mechanical maintenance, or boiler operation - ideally electronical experience
  • You have high school diploma or GED ( Trade school or technical training in boilers, industrial maintenance, or HVAC preferred )
  • You have experience with burners, temporary boilers, or industrial combustion systems (highly preferred)
  • You have Speciality Rental industry experience (Steam, air, power, or temperature control) is a plus
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfortable working with industrial systems
  • Understanding of combustion principles and burned control
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, P&ID's, and mechanical drawings
  • Effective problem-solvingand troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, turnaround-driven operation
