Position Requirements
Description
Rex is a private, not-for-profit hospital affiliated with the UNC Health Care System. The hospital consists of 660 beds including a heart center, family birth center, cancer center, convalescent care center, adult care center, and wellness center. The main campus has approximately 40 anesthetizing sites including 24 main operating rooms, 6 procedure rooms, 3 OB suites, 6 procedure rooms and a variety of out of department locations (EP, TAVRs, Hybrid MRI).

Keith Tomlin - Chief CRNA
Originally from Atlanta, Keith began his career in the US Army, serving as a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division and serving in Iraq during Operation Desert Strom. After his military service he attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he earned a bachelor's degree in public health, studying biostatistics and epidemiology, and a bachelor's degree in nursing. After working at Duke University Medical Center and UNC Health, Keith earned a master's degree in Nurse Anesthesia from UNC-Greensboro. He has been with the practice for 11 years and he has been the Chief CRNA at Rex for 4 years.
Keith and his wife Priscila live in Durham, NC, where they raised their four children, one of whom is still at home. When not at work, Keith enjoys cycling, hiking, and travel.
Team Highlights
The Anesthesia Department is composed of approximately 30 anesthesiologists, 70 CRNAs and has an affiliation with the Raleigh School of Nurse Anesthesia. We practice team anesthesia in a collegial atmosphere that allows us to effectively manage our large and diverse patient population.
Our anesthesiologists and CRNAs work in an anesthesia care team approach. Our care team model means that we focus on giving everyone a voice, while supporting, respecting, and helping them to deliver care excellence.
Requirements
Responsibilities

Pre-anesthesia assessment
Obtains and/or verifies patient consent
Discuss anesthetic options and risks with the patient
Induction, maintenance, and emergence from anesthesia
Monitoring of the patient's physiological condition
Performance of clinical intervention as needed
Requirements
Current license as a registered professional nurse
Graduation from an accredited program of nurse anesthesia education
Certified or recertified by the AANA Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists
