Job description

The North Plainfield School District invites internal applications for an Athletic Site Manager. The Athletic Site Manager is responsible for overseeing the overall operation, safety, and organization of assigned North Plainfield School District athletic events. The Site Manager serves as the primary on-site representative of Athletic Administration and coordinates with coaches, officials, Athletic Event Chaperones, security personnel, athletic trainers, custodial staff, student-athletes, and spectators to ensure a safe, professional, and successful event.ย 

North Plainfield serves approximately 3,500 students in grades PreK12 and is committed to providing an inclusive environment where all students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Qualifications

  • Current employee of the North Plainfield School District.
  • ย Previous experience in athletic administration, coaching, event supervision, school administration, security, or large event operations.ย 
  • Strong knowledge of interscholastic athletics and athletic event procedures.
  • Demonstrated leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with crowd management and conflict de-escalation.ย 
  • ย Ability to make appropriate decisions independently while knowing when to contact Athletic Administration.ย 
  • ย Ability to work evening and weekend athletic events as assigned.ย 
  • Willingness to complete all required Athletic Site Manager training.ย 

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the on-site representative of Athletic Administration and provide leadership and direction to event personnel.ย 
  • Arrive at the assigned athletic facility with sufficient time to complete a comprehensive pre-event inspection and ensure the site is prepared for competition.ย 
  • Confirm the readiness and safety of playing surfaces, spectator areas, entrances, exits, restrooms, hallways, team areas, emergency access points, and other facility spaces.
  • Verify that assigned Athletic Event Chaperones, scoreboard operators, security personnel, athletic trainers, and other event staff are present and understand their responsibilities.ย 
  • Coordinate event-day operations and serve as the primary point of contact for coaches, officials, visiting teams, event personnel, and spectators.ย 
  • Welcome visiting teams and officials and assist with facility access, team locations, locker rooms, and other site-specific needs.ย 
  • Monitor overall crowd flow and spectator movement while ensuring entrances, exits, walkways, and emergency access areas remain clear.ย 
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the event and actively monitor student, staff, and spectator behavior.ย 
  • Ensure Athletic Event Chaperones are actively supervising their assigned areas and provide direction or reassignment when necessary.ย 
  • Address behavioral, safety, facility, or operational concerns promptly and professionally using appropriate deescalation strategies.ย 
  • Support the enforcement of district, school, Athletic Department, league, and facility expectations.ย 
  • Coordinate with security and school administration when spectator or student behavior requires additional intervention.ย 
  • Maintain professional communication with game officials and ensure they have appropriate access and support throughout the event.ย 
  • ย Monitor game-day equipment and operations, including scoreboard, public-address systems, timing equipment, lighting, and other event-related equipment.ย 
  • Coordinate with athletic trainers regarding injuries, medical concerns, and emergency situations.ย 
  • Support the implementation of district emergency procedures, including evacuation, sheltering, severe weather, medical emergencies, and other safety protocols.ย 
  • ย Ensure emergency access routes remain clear and that staff are aware of emergency procedures and designated SchoolFi Page 2 of 2 9/4/2026 2:00pm locations.
  • ย Monitor weather and facility conditions during outdoor events and communicate concerns to Athletic Administration.ย 
  • Communicate event delays, schedule changes, facility concerns, safety issues, or other significant developments to Athletic Administration in a timely manner.ย 
  • ย Serve as a mandated reporter and immediately report suspected abuse, neglect, or safety concerns in accordance with New Jersey law and district policy.ย 
  • Complete and submit required incident reports, event documentation, and follow-up communication as directed.ย 
  • ย Ensure appropriate student dismissal procedures are followed at the conclusion of athletic events.ย 
  • Conduct a post-event facility inspection and ensure equipment, supplies, and designated areas are secured appropriately.ย 
  • Report facility damage, maintenance concerns, safety hazards, or other follow-up needs to the appropriate personnel.ย 
  • Remain on site until all assigned responsibilities have been completed and the event has been properly concluded.ย 
  • ย Maintain professional cell phone use while on duty, using personal devices primarily for event-related communication, emergencies, or assigned responsibilities.ย 
  • Attend required Athletic Site Manager training, meetings, and professional development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Athletic Administration, the principal, or designeeย
