Job description

The Athletic Graduate Intern at Gardner-Webb University is responsible for promoting and assisting an environment where the administration, supervision and management of his or her intercollegiate sport within the parameters of the rules and regulations of Gardner-Webb University and the NCAA.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

● Reports to the Senior Associate Athletic Director / SWA and is charged with the concurrence of the Athletic Director, with managing day-to-day responsibilities.

● Responsible for duties as assigned that may include but not be limited to, organization of administrative files, assisting business manager, gameday operations and ticket manager role.

● Responsible for facilitating an atmosphere conducive to the continued academic and the athletic success of student-athletes

● May be requested to represent Gardner-Webb University before various groups, including media and alumni.

● Required to attend staff and individual meetings with the Director of Athletics.

● Advise the Director of Athletics on budgetary needs.

● Cooperate with all college offices that work with the athletic programs (i.e. Development, Alumni Affairs, Communications, Student Affairs, Enrollment Services, etc.)

● Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned by the Director of Athletics.

● BA or equivalent combination of education and experience

● Effective communication, interpersonal and public relation skills

● Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and enthusiastic team attitude

● Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across cultural boundaries and work harmoniously with diverse groups of students, faculty and staff

● Experience planning, developing and administering budgets helpful

● Enrollment in a Gardner-Webb Master’s program is required
