Summary:

The Athletic Coach is responsible for developing and implementing a competitive, safe, and educational volleyball program for students in grades 9-12. The coach will foster student-athlete growth in skills, teamwork, sportsmanship, and personal development, while promoting the values and goals of the school’s athletic program.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and conduct practices, drills, and games in accordance with school and league guidelines.
  • Teach fundamental volleyball skills, strategies, and teamwork.
  • Promote sportsmanship, character development, and positive behavior both on and off the court.
  • Evaluate student-athlete performance and provide constructive feedback.
  • Ensure the safety of all athletes by enforcing rules and proper use of equipment and facilities.
  • Collaborate with school administration, athletic staff, and parents to support student-athletes.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, equipment, and game schedules.
  • Uphold compliance with Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) rules and regulations where applicable.
  • Attend coaching clinics and meetings as required.
Requirements:
  • Experience playing or coaching volleyball preferred.
  • Knowledge of basketball rules, strategies, and fundamentals.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to motivate and mentor young athletes.
  • Availability for evening and weekend events.
  • First Aid, CPR, AED, and concussion training and certification required.
