Do you thrive in hands-on, fast-paced environments where safety, precision, and problem-solving matter every day?

Stress Engineering Services (SES) is an elite, one-of-a-kind engineering consulting firm, trusted for more than 50 years to solve the problems others can’t. Our reputation is built on an uncompromising commitment to technical excellence, a highly selective team of experts, and a track record of delivering answers in the most complex, high-stakes environments. We operate at the intersection of deep technical expertise and real-world application, partnering with clients across energy, aerospace, consumer products, medical, and beyond. Our teams combine advanced analysis with hands-on testing, failure analysis, and practical engineering judgment to deliver solutions that perform where it matters most, in the field. As an employee-owned company, our people are personally invested in every outcome, creating a culture where accountability is high and excellence is the standard. We don’t just solve problems, we uncover root causes, mitigate risk, and deliver confidence.

For our clients, that means a trusted partner known for rigor and results. For our people, it means joining an elite team tackling the most meaningful challenges in engineering.

SES is where complex problems meet uncommon solutions, and where elite engineers come to do their best work.

Our Core Values

  • We Over Me – We put the mission, our clients, and our team ahead of individual agendas
  • Unyielding Pursuit of Excellence – Excellence is the standard. We deliver the right solution, on time, every time
  • Own It – We take accountability to earn trust and deliver results

The Role

Stress Engineering Services (SES) is seeking a Technician to join our Testing Division in Waller, TX. This role is ideal for a mechanically inclined professional who enjoys hands-on work, building and assembling physical test systems, and supporting real-world engineering projects both in the lab and in the field.

As an active member of the Testing team, you will play a key role in setting up, installing, and executing mechanical testing systems and environments, working closely with engineers to bring complex test programs to life.

At SES, we take pride in fostering an inclusive and dynamic workplace where diverse perspectives and hands-on expertise drive innovative engineering solutions.

Why This Role Matters

Technicians are essential to SES’s ability to design and execute real-world testing solutions that validate the safety, performance, and durability of critical systems and components. Your work ensures that test setups, often large-scale and mechanically complex, are built correctly, installed safely, and perform reliably.

From assembling fixtures to supporting full-scale testing at client sites, your contributions directly impact the accuracy of engineering data and the success of projects across industries like energy, infrastructure, and manufacturing.

A Day in the Life at SES

In this role, your day is centered around hands-on mechanical work and problem-solving.

You may start your morning in the Waller facility assembling mechanical test rigs, fixtures, or support structures, cutting, fitting, bolting, and aligning components based on technical drawings. You’ll work alongside engineers to ensure systems are properly configured for upcoming test programs.

Throughout the day, you will:

  • Work with mechanical components, tools, and equipment to build and modify test setups
  • Collaborate closely with engineers and fellow technicians to execute test plans
  • Troubleshoot and adapt mechanical assemblies in real time
  • Follow detailed procedures to ensure safety and accuracy in high-risk environments

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with their hands, solving practical problems, and seeing tangible results from their work.

Key Responsibilities

  • Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and mechanical layouts to support test setup and execution
  • Assemble and fabricate mechanical systems, including fixtures, frames, mounts, and support structures
  • Install and set up test equipment both in-house and at client facilities
  • Support field operations, including system installation, alignment, and commissioning
  • Execute project tasks as part of a 2–6 person team in both lab and field environments
  • Perform basic electrical tasks (wiring, connections, panel interaction) as needed to support testing systems
  • Follow detailed instructions and safety protocols to ensure efficient and safe execution

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Associate’s degree or 1-year certificate in an engineering technology or mechanical-related field highly preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a technician in a mechanical, industrial, or testing environment
  • Experience with mechanical assembly, fabrication, or equipment setup preferred
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of tools, materials, and assembly techniques
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and wiring (support level, not primary focus)
  • Experience with test setups, data acquisition support, or instrumentation integration is a plus
  • Proven ability to work safely in environments requiring high attention to detail
  • Highly organized, hands-on, and self-motivated
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions in English
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future

Additional Requirements

  • Willingness to work overtime, including occasional evenings, weekends, or night shifts
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. regularly
  • Valid driver’s license required (occasional driving needed)
  • Ability to travel up to 20% (domestic and/or international), including work in environments such as:
    • Refineries
    • Power plants
    • Offshore platforms
    • Industrial facilities

Why Join SES

  • Solve problems that matter – Your work directly impacts product performance, safety, and reliability
  • High autonomy + high ownership – You’re trusted to lead and deliver
  • Broad technical exposure – Work across industries, materials, and challenges
  • Collaborate with experts – Learn from recognized leaders in engineering and failure analysis
  • Entrepreneurial environment – Be part of a team that values initiative, curiosity, and innovation
  • Employee-owned culture (ESOP) – Share in the success you help create

What’s in it for you?
At Stress Engineering, curiosity isn’t just encouraged—it’s expected. You’ll have the opportunity to deepen your technical expertise, broaden your industry exposure, and make a meaningful impact on real-world engineering challenges from day one.

We offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, and holidays. Your compensation is thoughtfully aligned with your experience, expertise, and the value you bring to the team.

Own your impact. Build your future.
Here, employee ownership is more than a benefit—it’s part of our culture. The work you do today contributes to long-term success that you share in, alongside a team that values collaboration, innovation, and accountability. We’re built for stability and growth, where your technical skills and problem-solving directly influence outcomes—not just for individual projects, but for the future of the company.
