Job Description

As a member of DeAngelo Contracting Services (DCS), you'll use your skills to help maintain and protect the environment while representing our company's values and reputation. This is a full-time, seasonal role (exact start and end dates may vary based on weather and workload).

Our Railroad Crossing Applicators play an important role in applying vegetation control treatments at railroad crossings, ensuring every project is completed to contract specifications with safety as the top priority.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fill trucks with water/chemical mix.
  • Perform minor weed eating with an industrial weed eater and chainsaw work (16" bar minimum) - approx. 25% of each day.
  • Pull and roll up 300-500 feet of hose up to 32 times per day.
  • Spray 8-10 railroad crossings daily.
  • Safely drive and operate spray trucks between crossings.
  • Call MTM for daily job briefings.
  • Complete required end-of-day paperwork.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 21+ years of age or older.
  • Valid driver's license with at least 5 years of clean driving history.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, DOT physical, and federal background check for railroad property access.
  • Ability to travel away from home for 4-6 weeks at a time (DCS provides hotel accommodations and per diem).
  • Flexible schedule:
    • Most work is Monday-Friday, 7am-4pm, with 10-12-hour shifts.
    • Some weekend or night work may be required.
    • Hours may vary with weather and workload.
  • Occasionally travel to offices during breaks for routine truck/equipment maintenance.
  • Must comply with company drug and alcohol policy.

Training Provided

  • Paid training in vegetation identification, chemical usage, safety procedures, application methods, and equipment operation/maintenance.
