About Us

At Montessori Academy of Decatur, we are committed to providing an authentic Montessori education that empowers children to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our collaborative team of educators creates a prepared environment where independence, curiosity, and creativity flourish.
Responsibilities

  • Implement Montessori principles and practices to maintain a thoughtfully prepared Primary classroom (ages 3–6)
  • Develop and present individualized lessons using Montessori materials and methods
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment that encourages independence, concentration, and respectful collaboration
  • Observe, assess, and document student progress to support each child’s academic and developmental growth
  • Provide constructive guidance and support to help students reach their full potential
  • Collaborate with classroom assistants, fellow guides, and administration
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with parents to support each child’s educational journey and well-being
Qualifications

  • Montessori Primary Certification (AMI, AMS, or equivalent) preferred
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Development, or a related field
  • Minimum of 5 years of early childhood teaching experience required
  • Experience in a Montessori Primary classroom or with young children strongly preferred
  • Strong observation, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated passion for working with children and commitment to Montessori philosophy
