Job description

The School of Health Professions at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is seeking applicants for a full-time, 12 month, faculty position at Instructor rank (non-tenured) in the Department of Health Care Sciences.
Description of Duties:
  • Design and implement activities to assist faculty to improve their teaching and communication skills
  • Assist faculty in reliably assessing learner's acquisition of knowledge in communications and communication skills
  • Assist in instruction of communication skills to students including speech communication and conflict resolution
  • Assist in the design and implementation of methods to assess learning outcomes
  • Develop and carry out research related to communication skills and concepts in a professional healthcare education environment
  • Serve as a lecturer for all three schools at UT Southwestern

Qualifications:
The successful candidate will have:
  • Earned master's degree in communications or a closely related field
  • Demonstrated research capabilities and scholarly production in the communications field
  • Experience in instructional design, development, and evaluation of communications courses
  • Experience in developing and delivering online courses and classroom instruction
  • Knowledge of higher education principles, practices and procedures within a medical environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications.
