Job description

Job Title: Survey Party ChiefJob Description

As a Survey Party Chief, you will supervise and conduct various types of surveys including Boundary, Topographic, Construction, and ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys. You will ensure all surveys are performed professionally and efficiently, leveraging advanced survey equipment and technology.

Responsibilities
  • Supervise and conduct Boundary, Topographic, Construction, ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys, and other related surveys.
  • Research and analyze data from various sources to organize and develop required additional information for survey projects.
  • Identify and report any issues encountered in the field to the office.
  • Understand the scope of work before visiting the work site and debrief the Field Coordinator and Office Staff daily.
  • Utilize robotic and GPS equipment for fieldwork and train new field staff in equipment operation and maintenance.
  • Train survey crew in technical survey and safety methods, techniques, and procedures.
  • Perform survey calculations before and after survey projects.
  • Implement work-site safety and traffic control procedures.
  • Assign work to and evaluate the performance of assigned staff.
  • Maintain accurate manual and electronic records and sketches of work performed.
Essential Skills
  • 3+ years of experience in land surveying, including topographic, boundary, ALTA, as-built, and construction surveying.
  • Proficiency with surveying equipment such as Trimble, Total Station, Data Collectors, Leica, and Magnetic Locators.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to perform survey calculations and maintain accurate field records.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience conducting land surveys of roads, bridges, and building sites.
  • Ability to travel during the work week.
  • Ability to pass a drug and background check.
Work Environment

This position requires heavy travel during the week, with weekends at home. You may be assigned to projects at other offices, requiring travel throughout Virginia and surrounding states. The work environment is dynamic, with opportunities for overtime.
