What You Will Do:

The Protein Biochemistry Consultant will support a team of skilled researchers to help drive advancements in biochemistry and bioengineering research for the Department ofDefense.As part of our team,you'llserve as a strategic technical advisor to program managers at the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), advising on advanced government-funded research and development programs.You'llwork with world-class scientists and engineers to provide strategic assessments of emerging technologies. You willmaintainresponsibility for producing and presenting findings and recommendations to a team of colleagues and clients on the feasibility and potential impact of future research programs,assistingwith the management of current programs, andfacilitatingthe transition of program deliverables to DoD stakeholders.

What You Will Need:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "SECRET" Federal or DoD securityclearance

  • Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biology, Bioengineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline. Candidates with other STEM-related fields of study and demonstrated experience in protein biochemistry, protein engineering, or protein characterization will also be considered.
  • FOUR (4) or more years' experience in protein biochemistry, protein mass spectroscopy and/orprotein engineering; including but not limited to:
    • Designing and executing protein biochemistry and/or protein engineering research in an R&D environment
    • Experience with protein expression, purification, characterization, and structure-function analysis
    • Experience with protein mass spectrometry, proteomics, and analytical methods for protein identification and characterization
    • Experience authoring and presenting technical reports, proposals, and program documentation

What Would Be NiceToHave:

  • An ACTIVE and MAINTAINED "TOP SECRET/SCI (TS/SCI)" Federal or DoD security clearance
  • Experience performing or supporting government-sponsored research activities
  • Experience with protein engineering, directed evolution, antibody engineering, enzyme engineering, or related protein optimization approaches
  • Experience applying computational, experimental, or integrated approaches to protein design and characterization
  • Experience managing or contributing to complex technical programs with defined timelines, budgets, and deliverables.
  • Experience reviewing research proposals, conducting technical assessments, or supporting R&D portfolio evaluations.
  • Experience supporting DARPA, DoD, NIH, BARDA, or other federal R&D programs.
  • Knowledge of synthetic biology, biomanufacturing, computational biology, or advanced biotechnology platforms.
  • Experience leading and coordinating teams ofdifferent experienceand technical backgrounds
  • Knowledge of the DoD program/project development process
  • Experience in transitioning products and or capabilities toDoD-stakeholders
  • Ability to work on tasks quickly, independently, and collaboratively in a team atmosphere
  • Possession of outstanding attention to detail
  • Possession of clear and succinct oral, visual, and written communication skills
