ELECTRICAL ENGINEER, PROPELLANT GENERATION (STARSHIP)
As a member of the Starship Launch Engineering team, you will focus on the electrical design and field support for propellant generation systems that enable rapid, high-volume production of liquid oxygen and methane. You will work with a group of elite engineers across multiple disciplines to design, install, and activate air separation plants (ASUs), liquefaction equipment, and gas turbine-based power generation infrastructure required to support Starship orbital launch capability. This position is based at Cape Canaveral, FL.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Lead electrical design for air separation plants, liquefaction systems, and gas turbine power generation plants
  • Work directly with internal and external customers to determine electrical requirements/needs and wants.
  • Assist in the development of drawings, design documentation, and reports for aerospace, industrial, and commercial type projects.
  • Write, negotiate, and manage construction contracts with subcontractors across multiple disciplines through contract close-out.
  • Resolve design and construction conflicts in the field in real time.
  • Coordinate with the electrical utility provider for design/engineering to ensure reliable power service to critical site infrastructure.
  • Provide support and direction to electricians and technicians during the construction and activation of power distribution equipment.
  • Interact with engineers, contractors, fabricators, and project stakeholders.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • 1+ years of experience in the design or build of building infrastructure electrical systems.

PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Primary experience with electrical and power distribution systems (<600Vac).
  • Understanding of medium voltage system design and construction.
  • Working knowledge of switchgear, motor control centers, variable frequency drives, transformers, building lighting, building construction specifications, and facility grounding.
  • Experience with critical power infrastructure including UPS systems, backup generators, and automatic transfer switches.
  • Experience creating and implementing process/design solutions with minimal impact to business operations.
  • Ability to perform Arc Flash, Coordination, and Power Studies.
  • Experience designing for and building in classified environments.
  • Able to quickly assess an issue and assist technicians with troubleshooting and repair.
  • Ability to work in a high-concentration, high-stress environment, under possible extended work hours and tight deadlines.
  • Acute attention to detail, ability to see interactions with other systems to avoid problems.
  • Familiarity with National Electric Code, National Fire Protection Association and International Building Code.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to pass Air Force background check for Cape Canaveral.
  • Perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights.
  • Must be able to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
  • Remain focused while working in hazardous environments, while wearing appropriate PPE.
