Responsibilities:
Job Summary
The Director - Finance & Academic Alignment serves as the senior financial leader for HonorHealth's strategic partnership with Arizona State University (ASU) Health, including the Arizona State University John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering. This role provides oversight of financial strategy, academic reimbursement optimization, and faculty time tracking across all HonorHealth/ASU Health campuses. The Director partners with HonorHealth Finance, Academic Affairs, and ASU leadership to define financial governance, ensure compliance with academic and healthcare standards, and enable strategic growth through integrated financial systems, data-driven decision-making, and cross-campus infrastructure alignment.
Essential Functions
  • Financial Leadership: Lead and manage all financial operations for the HonorHealth/ASU Health partnership, including budgeting, accounting, and cash flow. Ensure compliance with GAAP, HonorHealth policies, and academic finance standards.
  • Faculty Time Tracking: Oversee physician faculty time allocation systems to ensure accurate tracking between clinical and teaching duties. Drive improvements in academic credit capture and reimbursement accuracy.
  • GME Optimization: Collaborate with HonorHealth Academic Affairs to optimize Graduate Medical Education (GME) reimbursement. Align reporting with ASU and federal standards and implement audit-ready documentation protocols to reduce compliance risk.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare and present strategic financial reports, budget variance analyses, and recommendations to HonorHealth and ASU Health leadership. Facilitate operating reviews and action planning with HonorHealth and ASU SOMME leadership.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Drive special projects related to academic finance, reimbursement innovation, and cross-campus financial integration. Projects could include multi-campus grant harmonization, AI-enabled forecasting pilots, and financial modeling for new academic programs. Develop advanced financial models, proformas, and ROI analyses for strategic initiatives, joint ventures, and academic program expansion.

Leadership & Collaboration: Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and cross-functional collaboration. Partner with HonorHealth teams to align financial initiatives with clinical excellence and patient experience goals.

Education

License and Certifications
