We are seeking Assyrian (Neo-Aramaic) Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Assyrian is a rare, critical language frequently requested in asylum and immigration cases, requiring interpreters with strong linguistic and cultural competency.
Responsibilities
  • Provide real-time Assyrian ↔ English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
  • Deliver services with accuracy, neutrality, and professionalism in legal and immigration contexts.
  • Adhere to USCIS/DHS interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and compliance standards.
  • Manage both scheduled assignments and urgent/surge requests.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance reviews.
Qualifications
  • Native or near-native fluency in Assyrian (Neo-Aramaic) and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, asylum, legal, medical, or government preferred).
  • Familiarity with interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural awareness.
  • Strong telephone communication skills; ability to remain impartial under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3/Tier 5 federal clearance.
