Job Summary
Assumption Catholic Church, Mattese is seeking a joyful, faith-filled Catholic educator who feels called to serve as a part-time Music Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year, with the potential for additional responsibilities that could expand the role into a full-time position. The Music Teacher will provide engaging and developmentally appropriate musical instruction to students in kindergarten through 8th grade. This position is responsible for implementing the established music curriculum, fostering a love for the fine arts, and supporting the school's mission to form students in faith, character, and academic excellence.
Job Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality music instruction for K-8 students using the school's approved curriculum.
  • Teach core music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, listening skills, and foundational music theory.
  • Prepare and direct student performances, including concerts, liturgical music, and special school events.
  • Create a positive, inclusive classroom environment that supports student growth and artistic expression.
  • Integrate Catholic values and faith-based themes into teaching when appropriate.
  • Assess student progress through varied methods and provide timely feedback.
  • Collaborate with faculty, administration, and parish staff on school activities, liturgical celebrations, and interdisciplinary projects.
  • Maintain an organized, safe learning environment and care for musical instruments, equipment, and instructional materials.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and school leadership.
  • Participate in required professional development, faculty meetings, and school community events.

Job Requirements
  • Practicing Catholic who supports and models the teachings and values of the Catholic Church.
  • Bachelor's degree in Music Education or related field required; valid teaching certification preferred.
  • Experience teaching music to elementary or middle-school-aged students preferred.
  • Proficiency in vocal instruction and basic instrumental pedagogy.
  • Ability to plan lessons that are creative, structured, and aligned to curriculum standards.
  • Strong classroom-management and communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for collaborating with staff and participating actively in the school community.
  • Ability to pass a background check and complete all Archdiocesan safe-environment requirements.
