Third Grade General Studies Position Available at Derech HaTorah of Rochester

September 2026

Derech HaTorah, a growing private school located in Rochester, NY, is seeking a dynamic, talented third grade teacher to join our general studies staff.

Our Openings

We are looking to hire a third grade general studies teacher for the coming school year. This will be a half-day position, but can be combined with one of our other openings into a full time position. Please find the job description below.

The ideal candidate for this position would be an energetic and capable teacher with a strong passion for elementary school education. They will demonstrate the ability to teach a variety of different types of learners, a willingness to collaborate with a community of educators, and the ability to make a strong contribution to a growing school.

Third Grade General Studies

The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills:

  • Ability to teach a self-contained third-grade classroom, including Mathematics, English Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies

  • Strong knowledge of elementary instructional best practices and child-centered pedagogy

  • Deep understanding of child development and a commitment to fostering independent, self-motivated learners

  • Passion for working with elementary-aged students and creating joyful, engaging learning experiences

  • Warm, nurturing presence and genuine love of children

  • Commitment to constructivist learning, collaborative inquiry, and student-centered instruction

  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues in curriculum development, planning, and implementation

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong partnerships with students, families, and colleagues

  • Serves as a positive role model who inspires confidence, curiosity, and character in young learners

  • Demonstrates strong leadership within the classroom and cultivates each student's unique strengths and potential

  • Creates an inclusive, supportive classroom environment where all students feel known, valued, and challenged

  • Reflective practitioner who embraces continuous growth, innovation, and professional learning

Education and experience:

Undergraduate Degree, and ideally, teaching degree

2-3 years of teaching experience preferred, not required.
