About the Role:

We are currently hiring for 2nd shift extrusion press operators, saw helpers, saw operators, stretcher operators and press operators.

I. JOB PURPOSE

To safely operate and monitor an extrusion press, to set new run practices and to monitor and check the quality of extrusion according to ISO standards.

  1. KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/JOB FUNCTIONS

Accountability:

  • Proficient in use of the overhead cranes to move racks and to sling scrap or finished bundles of extrusion
  • Visually inspect metal for defects
  • Demonstrated ability to Coordinates flow of information through these extrusion functions using Epics system and initiate communication to supervision, press operators saw operators and maintenance relative to order completion and operational or equipment problems
  • Demonstrated ability to perform etch testing safely and efficiently
  • Proficient knowledge of the press and saw information system, to determine and act upon alloy and temper information, to verify cut length and to determine special handling requirements; to record time and production information
  • Demonstrated ability to perform etch testing safely and efficiently
  • Demonstrated ability to operate all press equipment safely and efficiently
  • Working knowledge of procedures for properly marking and identifying material
  • Demonstrated ability to perform log or billet transport from storage and log table loading functions associated with the extrusion presses according to the master schedule
  • Demonstrated ability to perform die transport from the ovens and die set-up functions associated with the extrusion presses
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and set new run practices for new extruded shapes
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor quench rates and quality checks according to established ISO Procedures
  • Perform quality assurance activities to ensure the acceptability of material processed through the work area
  • Applies established ISO 9001 procedures accurately in support of the overall quality program
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor the extrusion press and react quickly to any malfunctions.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform all functions associated with all of the extrusion press equipment and be able to run all extrusion press equipment. Perform the above functions in a safe, efficient manner which maximizes productivity as measured by pounds per hour, recovery, downtime, complaints and NCR's
  • Miscellaneous project and duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Must be a team player and able to work with others
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and to understand measuring tolerances
  • Must be self motivated
  • Ability and willingness to learn, ability to adapt to change
  • Dress and appearance to conform with safety requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Operate press efficiently, ensuring consistent quality and output throughout the production run.
  • Work overtime as required to meet production demands and deadlines.
