Job description

Job Title: Associate Pastor
Location: Brown Missionary Baptist Church
Reports To: Senior Pastor


Position Summary

The Associate Pastor serves alongside the Senior Pastor to advance the mission of Brown Missionary Baptist Church by providing leadership in preaching, teaching, and pastoral care. This role supports the spiritual growth of the congregation, strengthens ministry efforts, and helps cultivate the next generation through youth engagement and discipleship.


Primary Responsibilities1. Preaching amp; Teaching
  • Proclaim the Gospel through preaching during weekend worship services as assigned
  • Teach Bible studies, discipleship classes, and small groups in alignment with Baptist doctrine
  • Assist in developing sound, Christ-centered teaching that supports the church’s vision
  • Support the spiritual formation of members through consistent, biblically grounded instruction
2. Congregational Care
  • Provide compassionate pastoral care through hospital visitation, home visits, and prayer support
  • Officiate or assist in funerals and memorial services with dignity and pastoral sensitivity
  • Minister to members and families during times of illness, bereavement, and crisis
  • Help foster a culture of care, connection, and spiritual encouragement within the church body
3. Youth Ministry Support
  • Mentor, disciple, and build meaningful relationships with youth and young adults
  • Assist in teaching youth Bible studies and supporting Christian education efforts
  • Partner with youth ministry leaders in planning and executing events, outreach, and activities
  • Encourage youth participation in worship, service, and spiritual growth opportunities
4. Ministry Support amp; Leadership
  • Assist the Senior Pastor in carrying out the overall vision and mission of the church
  • Participate in worship services, leadership meetings, and church-wide events
  • Support ministry coordination across departments as needed
  • Perform all other duties as assigned to support the work of the church

Qualifications amp; Requirements
  • Licensed and/or ordained Baptist minister (or pursuing ordination)
  • Demonstrated calling to pastoral ministry with a servant’s heart
  • Strong biblical knowledge and ability to effectively preach and teach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with church leadership and volunteers
  • Commitment to the doctrine, mission, and values of Brown Missionary Baptist Church
