A Brief Overview
The Senior Investment Associate is a core member of Avanta Residential, an Invesco Real Estate and Hunt Companies real estate development and investment platform. The Associate is responsible for supporting all aspects of project execution across a broad range of real estate investment opportunities. This role encompasses advanced financial modeling, underwriting, valuation analysis, and market research for acquisitions, mezzanine financing, preferred equity investments, development projects, joint ventures, and co-GP structures. The Senior Associate leverages experience with Build-to-Rent (BTR) and multifamily assets, operating platforms, portfolio recapitalizations, and capital markets activity, while actively applying AI-driven tools and workflows to enhance investment analysis and decision-making capabilities.
What you will do
  • Financial Analysis & Modeling
  • Builds and maintains comprehensive, complex financial models for potential high-priority or sophisticated acquisitions, development projects, redevelopments, joint ventures, and other investment structures, including mezzanine financing, preferred equity, and co-GP arrangements.
  • Conducts advanced financial modeling to assist in underwriting and due diligence phases of potential new developments, acquisitions, joint ventures, and other opportunities.
  • Performs research on rental income, operating expenses, ad valorem taxes, sales and rental comparables, demographics, and other factors necessary to evaluate land and/or existing assets.
  • Updates and maintains advanced financial models and databases using current contracts, bids, and available market information.
  • Performs advanced ad-hoc financial analysis to support asset management and senior executive decision-making.
  • Market Research & Intelligence
  • Conducts market research across a broad range of asset classes, including Single-Family Rental (SFR), Build-to-Rent (BTR), multifamily, land, and mixed-use assets across diverse geographic markets and investment structures.
  • Prepares and effectively analyzes market data and research for all submarkets and micro-markets within the portfolio.
  • Sources, structures, and synthesizes market intelligence using AI research tools and data platforms; conducts AI-assisted market and submarket research, including prompting and evaluating outputs.
  • Performs market research travel as needed.
  • Investment Execution & Asset Management
  • Contributes in the preparation of investment committee memoranda describing potential new investments and participates in Investment Committee presentations.
  • Drafts presentations and investment committee memoranda for lenders, management, and investors; prepares capital raising presentations and supports investor relations requests.
  • Works with Development Managers and other team members to support LOI submittals and project structuring.
  • Supports the creation of annual business plans for owned and managed investments and monitors the operating performance of owned investments.
  • Reviews analyses submitted by consultants and team members.
  • AI Tools & Innovation
  • Applies AI-powered tools and platforms to streamline financial modeling, market research, and investment reporting workflows; stays current with emerging technologies relevant to real estate investment.
  • Identifies, pilots, and helps institutionalize AI-enabled workflows that improve the speed, quality, consistency, and scalability of underwriting, research, reporting, and knowledge management.
  • Acts as a power user and informal coach for AI tools, establishes best practices for prompting and output review, and promotes thoughtful adoption of emerging capabilities across the team.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Finance, Real Estate, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or a related discipline; ideally from a top-tier school. Required
  • Master's Degree Master of Business Administration (MBA) or Master of Science in Real Estate (MSRE) preferred Preferred
  • 4-7 years of work experience in real estate, real estate development, infrastructure, investment banking, lending, investment management, or commercial real estate brokerage, or a related field. Required
  • 4+ years of subject-matter-expert level experience using Excel for financial modeling, data analysis, reporting, and ad-hoc analysis. Required
  • 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in Financial planning and analysis. Required
  • 5+ years of experience with multifamily transactions and operations. Preferred
  • Advanced understanding of real estate financial analysis, modeling, and valuation with an emphasis on multifamily and diverse asset classes, including SFR, BTR, land, and mixed-use.
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills; advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to synthesize complex analyses into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Teams and CoStar is a plus.
  • Excellent critical thinking, judgment, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills; ability to define problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Outstanding organizational skills and ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining meticulous attention to detail.
  • Must be a detail-oriented self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and contributes effectively as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and industry professionals.
  • Highly developed sense of responsibility, initiative, and intellectual curiosity; independently seeks out better methods, tools, and information sources. Comfortable operating in ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability and eagerness to leverage AI tools (e.g., large language models, AI-assisted underwriting, market research tools) to improve the speed and quality of financial analysis, market research, and written deliverables.
  • Demonstrated adaptability and growth mindset toward evolving technology, with a proactive commitment to integrating AI capabilities into investment analysis, underwriting, and workflow processes.
  • Willingness to self-teach new tools as the technology landscape evolves.

Compensation
We are committed to offering competitive and equitable compensation. The hiring range for this position is generally between $120,000 - $150,000, exclusive of fringe benefits or potential bonuses. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus. Final salaries will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, licenses, certifications, and/or experience. In addition to these factors - we believe in the importance of pay equity. Please keep in mind that the range mentioned above is the general Hiring Range for the role. Hiring at the top of the range is reserved for exceptionally qualified candidates. We consider internal and external factors as a part of every final offer.
