Job description

Leads the management of the company safety program within a business unit or region. Oversees the education and training of Austin Commercial project staff in federal, state, and local laws, ensuring the compliance of Austin’s safety, health, and environmental policies.

Responsibilities:

• Builds working relationships with project staff and subcontractor safety representatives
• Ensures compliance with the company’s current safety manual, policies and expectations, conducting project safety reviews as needed
• Creates accurate safety reports and accident investigation documents
• Provides, participates, and leads staff in safety training and subcontractor development; possesses strong presentation skills
• Represents company in a positive and professional manner with owner and subcontractors
• Creates and facilitates safety training on a variety of subjects that align with particular project schedules
• Builds and maintains relationships with key vendors (subcontractors, suppliers, architects, etc.)
• Participates in safety organizations outside of the company and based in assigned region
• Incorporates regional strategic planning into safety approach

Requirements:

• Associates degree in a safety-related field preferred and/or 10+ years safety experience in the construction industry
• Authorized OSHA 500 Trainer
• Current on CPR and First Aid certifications 
• SWPP knowledge
• Safety certification from an accredited organization, such as BCSP or an equal alternative
• Advanced knowledge of construction processes and procedures preferred
• Proficient in relevant software
• Proven leadership abilities in team-based delivery methods
• Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities with key vendors, including company executives
• Manages time and resource allocation appropriately to provide overall safety leadership to assigned projects
