Job description

This is a full-time onsite role based in Bentonville, AR; remoteand hybrid options are not available.

Role Summary:
As a Software Engineer III at Walmart, you will design, build, and scale highimpact systems across backend services, automation frameworks, and GenAIpowered engineering tools. You will work across complex distributed systems, native mobile and web automation, and AIdriven workflows that accelerate engineering productivity across Walmart's global eCommerce and Store ecosystems. This role is ideal for engineers who thrive in fastpaced, crossfunctional environments and enjoy solving deep technical problems with high ownership.
What You'll Do:
GenAI Engineering
  • Build and integrate AIpowered agents, workflows, and automation systems using modern GenAI frameworks and APIs.
  • Develop intelligent tools that improve engineering productivity, defect detection, and operational efficiency.
  • Partner with engineering, product, and platform teams to scale GenAI adoption across the organization.

Backend Engineering & API Development
  • Design, develop, and maintain highscale backend services, REST APIs, and automation pipelines.
  • Build scripts, tools, and services that improve engineering efficiency and reduce manual effort.
  • Ensure backend systems meet availability, scalability, performance, and security requirements.
  • Integrate telemetry, monitoring, and CI/CD best practices into backend services.

Quality Engineering & Automation
  • Build and maintain endtoend automation frameworks for backend, web, and native mobile platforms.
  • Write and automate test plans, test cases, and regression suites for largescale eCommerce applications.
  • Execute functional, integration, regression, and performance testing across platforms.
  • Troubleshoot automation failures and collaborate with crossfunctional teams to resolve issues.
  • Improve and optimize the software development lifecycle through automation and tooling.

What You'll Bring:
  • 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, automation, or quality engineering.
  • Strong experience with Node.js, JavaScript, Python, or similar languages.
  • Handson experience with REST APIs, distributed systems, and backend automation.
  • Experience with mobile/web automation frameworks (Appium, TestCafe, XCUI Test, Espresso).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, and Git
  • Strong understanding of system integration, debugging, and performance optimization.
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in computer science or related field.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problemsolving skills.

Preferred Qualifications and Qualifications:
  • Experience building or integrating GenAIpowered applications, agents, or workflows.
  • Experience designing automation frameworks for Native, Web, or Backend platforms.
  • Experience with largescale eCommerce, retail, or customerfacing systems.
  • Strong understanding of quality engineering principles, test strategy, and defect management.
  • Ability to navigate and influence large crossfunctional engineering teams.
