Job Summary:
Taylor Company, a global leader in commercial food service equipment, is seeking a highly motivated Power Systems Engineer to join our Engineering team in Rockton, Illinois. This role focuses on power systems design. You will play a key role in ensuring our products meet performance, safety, and energy efficiency standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Power Systems Engineering
Design and develop internal power distribution systems for commercial appliances.
Analyze and manage electrical load requirements across various operating conditions.
Integrate power supplies, converters, and protection devices into appliance systems.
Ensure compliance with applicable safety and energy efficiency standards (e.g., UL, IEC, ENERGY STAR).
Conduct simulations and lab testing to validate power system performance and reliability.
Conduct pre-compliance EMC/EMI testing in accordance with the specification and provide additional support during formal testing.
Troubleshoot and resolve power-related issues during development and production phases.
Work independently and manage responsibilities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with relevant experience. Bachelor's degree is a plus but not required.
3+ years of experience in power systems or electrical design, preferably in the appliance or commercial equipment industry.
Strong understanding of AC/DC systems, power electronics, and load analysis.
Familiarity with regulatory standards (UL, IEC, CSA, etc.).
Proficiency in simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB/Simulink) and CAD software.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills:
Knowledge of thermal management and fault protection strategies.
Hands-on experience with compliance testing and certification processes.
Hands-on experience with test equipment such as power analyzers, digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and programmable ac power sources.
