Job description

Overview
VTG is seeking an Associate Systems Engineer to support our Navy customer in Manassas, VA. This role is primarly on-site in a classified lab enviroment. 
 
This systems engineer will work to modernize and improve the SONAR testing program from requirements tracing and test planning through execution and reporting. This tasking will include test modernization, use of automation tools, requirements and system modeling, and incorporating mission-based testing. This role requires a detail-oriented engineer who will creatively apply current test automation tools and techniques to update a decades-old process.

What will you do?

The selected candidate will work with a team of systems engineers, test engineers, and operators to implement new tools and techniques to the existing test program. New testing approaches will also be welcomed for consideration. Additional work may include developing tests for separate VTG systems designed to be deployed on naval vessels. 

  • Trace and model requirements to tests and update tests and documentation as requirements change. 
  • Implement commercial test support software in the SONAR system testing program. 
  • Design new testing methods built around a mission-based testing concept. 
  • Support novel, bespoke algorithms and software suites designed for this system. 
  • Provide technical input to program managers and government representatives. 
  • Conduct demonstrations of automated tests and modeled systems 
  • Provide recommendations in planning, coordinating, and executing test events. 
  • Primarily on-site work but some options for work from home. 

Do you have what it takes?
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a technical field, preferably Systems Engineering or similar. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Experience with requirements documentation and/or test execution. 
  • US Citizen with current SECRET Clearance. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools. 
  • Experience with Linux systems. 
  • Successful completion of background check. 

Desired Qualifications/Skills/Abilities:

  • Experience with automated testing and tools. 
  • SysML experience including experience with software like MagicDraw. 
  • Experience with naval sonar systems. 
  • Experience with requirement analysis and evaluation. 
  • Experience with Python 
  • Experience with Artifactory 
  • Experience using manual, semi-automatic, and/or automated test systems. 

Travel Requirements: Minimal travel, mostly in the Manassas area
