The opportunity
We currently have an opportunity for an Associate Operations Business Analyst to join our Operations team in our Canton, MA office on a hybrid schedule. This position is responsible for working closely with customers, stakeholders, and other team members to understand the business requirements that drive the development of the design and functional specifications for moderately complex quality technical solutions. Provides technical information and expertise as well as coordination of workflow processes and automation projects. The business analyst utilizes their comprehensive knowledge of systems and processes to provide instructions, training, second tier support, knowledge-based systems maintenance, business specification development, and acceptance testing. The Associate Operations Business Analyst responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Conducts research, performs analysis, and assists with major automation projects. Provides business expertise and coordinates or assists with the development of business requirements. Develops understanding of interrelationships between various systems necessary to ensure compatibility of programming between systems. Provides status reports to management.
  • Assists the business and IT with the development of business requirements in collaboration with management, IT and the business leaders.
  • Performs analysis of current state operational and underwriting workflows to recommend, design and document business processes utilizing the go-forward underwriting/ policy administration system.
  • Assists lower level positions in the development and execution of acceptance testing plans or Business Quantification Plans.
  • Involved at some level throughout the entire life cycle of projects assigned. Offers alternatives through the process.
  • Assists other departments with the development and the deployment of new and revised product filings. Coordinates system and processing changes with other departments such as operations, product development and regulatory staff to ensure compliance with state law.
  • Completes updates in the user-maintenance utilities to support all production applications.
  • Scrutinizes internal information from project meetings such as project status reports and meetings notes as well as external sources such as insurance circulars, notices, and proprietary filings to identify potential issues for system or processes. As a result of this analysis, assists with the development of system or process requirements.
  • Develops, maintains, and distributes reference guides and training material for new products and enhancements, as needed. Distribution may be in the following forms: training programs, paper manuals, electronic mail, discussion databases, and on-line material.
  • If assigned, provides second tier support for lines of businesses and policy writing applications.
  • Participates in business review of such items as rating quality, procedures, system releases, knowledge-based systems, recording, and other back-end processing to ensure accuracy and participates in developing recommended solutions for improvement. Participates in development of automation/project request and works with management to ensure compliance of operations procedures.
  • Creating/updating monthly financial reports
  • Respond to ad hoc reporting requests - utilizing knowledge of the producer data and Excel/SQL skills
  • Respond to emails and inquiries - often researching and problem solving
  • Works closely with Business Development and Senior Leadership team to provide producer reports
  • Updates PM data as needed

    • Report formatting / Presentation of reports / Organized data are key
  • Basic SQL knowledge
    • Understanding basic queries is a must or ability to learn quickly
  • Power BI
    • This is a plus.
    • Looking for someone that can expand their knowledge in this area
  • Experience working with a Scrum team a plus (see JIRA Management below)
  • 1-3 years of related experience in Production or Operations is required, preferably in a Property and Casualty carrier.

Our salary ranges are determined by many factors including location, role, experience and skillset of the candidate. The following ranges displayed reflect the target base salary for new hires; however, your recruiter will provide more specific compensation details during the hiring process. The typical base salary range for this position is: $59,000 - $83,000, based on the factors aforementioned. For candidates located in San Francisco, CA; Washington DC; our Massachusetts based offices and the New York City metro area, the base salary range is $75,000 - $87,000. In addition to base salary, full time Intact employees are also eligible for bonus potential and a full range of benefits to include but not limited to:
