As a Principal, IT Business Systems Analyst- Contact Lens R&D you will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of IT systems design and implementation, ensuring solutions are effective, scalable, and innovative. This involves analyzing business processes and translating them into IT solutions. You will liaise with stakeholders to ensure that projects meet business needs and that tech implementations align with strategic objectives at our Johns Creek, GA location. In this role, a typical day will include:
Business Partnering & Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as the primary IT liaison for Contact Lens R&D teams at JRC.
  • Build strong relationships with scientists, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with global RDIT and ITCI teams to align local needs with enterprise capabilities.

Business Systems Analysis
  • Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into scalable IT solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve workflows, data integrity, and system utilization.
  • Apply ITCI-aligned standards for requirements, documentation, and validation.
  • Support prioritization and delivery of enhancements aligned with business needs.

Laboratory Systems Support
  • Provide support and expertise for lab platforms, including:
  • LabVantage (all modules)
  • Waters Empower
  • Ensure systems are used effectively and aligned with enterprise standards.
  • Coordinate with global platform owners and ITCI teams on enhancements and lifecycle support.

AI & Digital Enablement
  • Promote adoption of AI and digital capabilities within R&D.
  • Support identification and development of AI use cases with Data Science teams.
  • Align local solutions with enterprise data platforms and ITCI frameworks.

Enterprise Alignment & ITCI Coordination
  • Coordinate with global ITCI-aligned teams to ensure:
  • Adherence to enterprise standards and best practices
  • Alignment with architecture and data platforms
  • Consistency in solution design and delivery
  • Serve as a bridge between local R&D users and global IT capabilities.

Support & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide day-to-day support for lab users to ensure minimal disruption.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance and user experience.
  • Contribute to standardization efforts across sites.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • Bachelor Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+4 yrs; PhD+0 yrs).
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English.
  • 5 years of Relevant Experience.
  • Hands-on experience with:
  • LabVantage (multi-module)
  • Waters Empower
  • Strong capabilities in requirements gathering, business process analysis, and stakeholder engagement.
  • 5 years of experience in IT Business Systems Analysis, preferably in R&D or lab environments.

Preferred qualifications:
  • Degree in Information Technology, Life Sciences, Engineering, or related preferred,
  • Experience in pharma, medical device, or regulated (GxP) environments.
  • Exposure to R&D data platforms and integrations.
  • Experience working with enterprise IT or ITCI-aligned organizations.
  • Awareness of AI/ML applications in scientific workflows.
  • Strong business partnering and communication skills.
  • Ability to translate scientific needs into effective IT solutions.
  • Collaborative mindset across local and global teams.
  • Proactive, solution-oriented execution.
  • Ability to balance local priorities with enterprise standards.
