Job description

Job Summary: Junior level process engineer (or senior engineering technician) to work with Windows engineering team, comprised of process engineers, design and development engineers, scientists, and engineering technicians to support the development and sustainment of X-ray Windows. The process engineer will work directly with engineering, logistics and production to incorporate new product into manufacturing and support manufacturing and production control in the continuous improvement of existing products.

Essential Functions:
1. Drives the gathering and analysis of data relating to engineering design, manufacturing & product support requirements.
2. Utilizes a basic to intermediate understanding of product design and build processes and applies standard methods and basic principles of Lean product development, Theory of Constraints and project management.
3. Coordinates the gathering of raw data and processes data and communicates in meaningful forms (e.g., flow charts, Pareto charts, control charts) to capture current manufacturing yields as well as drive yield improvements.
4. Oversee the performance of processes and tests. Document the results of processes and tests.
5. Evaluate current processes and designs. Identify potential improvements and be able to evaluate the return on investment and risk associated with identified improvements.
6. Use problem solving and decision making tools to analyze a situation and determine the best course of action.
7. Support Materials team with First Article reviews and communicate with vendors for non-conformity issues and to coordinate material and specification changes.
8. Working knowledge of silicon wafer procurement, photolithography, silicon oxidation, LPCVD deposition, anisotropic silicon wet etching, wafer cleaning, aluminum evaporation, sputtering, polyimide spin and cure, clean room operations, and machining technology.
9. Intermediate knowledge of metal to metal brazing processes.
10. Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
1. B.S. in engineering field or science related discipline (ABET preferred) or equivalent work experience
2. 2+ years of manufacturing operations experience (e.g., assembler, production control, etc.)
3. 2+ years of engineering experience (e.g., engineering technician, engineer associate) in semiconductor processing environment (MEMS manufacturing preferred)
4. Six Sigma and/or lean manufacturing training preferred.
5. DOE matrix creation and interpretation
6. Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Visio.
7. Experience in the operation of SEM and other microscopy equipment

5. Statistical Background - strong understanding of various statistical tools and programs.
