Job description

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Sales Tax Staff Accountant will primarily be responsible for the preparation and filing of sales, use, and other related tax returns for various locations throughout the United States and Canada. Additional responsibilities include reconciling general ledger accounts, researching tax issues to answer tax related questions, assisting with tax audits, and handling general accounting inquiries.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Prepare and file sales, use, and other related tax returns for various locations throughout the United States and Canada. This includes gathering information, reconciling accounts, preparing tax returns, filing and paying all balances due, and resolving any notices received from government agencies. 75%
• Act as the primary sales tax department contact for assigned locations. This includes researching and responding to questions regarding tax regulations for various jurisdictions and internal tax procedures. This also includes processing sales tax and registration fee check requests daily. 20%
• Assist the Sales Tax Manager with external audits by gathering information requested and explaining tax return preparation procedures to auditors as needed. 5%
• ALL OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED
EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
• Minimum Degree Required: Associate's Degree in Accounting/Business
• Preferred Degree: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Business/Finance
• Certificate(s) or License(s): N/A
• Preferred Experience: 1+ years in Tax Accounting
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY:
• Strong accounting skills are required; an accounting degree is preferred.
• Strong computer skills are required. This includes strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Excellent organization and time management skills are required. This position is very deadline driven and requires a significant amount of multi-tasking and coordination with other members of the organization to ensure all returns are filed timely and accurately.
• Excellent communication skills are required. This position requires that you communicate effectively, including providing good customer service to other members of the organization and any external contacts.
• Good analytical skills are required. This includes the ability to reconcile accounts and perform research to resolve issues as they arise.
• Working knowledge of systems such as Vertex, IDS, and/or Infinium is a plus.
