The Tennessee College of Applied Technology - Dickson is accepting applications for the full-time position of Associate Instructor in the new Power Sports Technology program at the Dickson Campus. This is a grant-funded position.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Technical Diploma in instructional area or equivalent higher education training with credentials in related field. Associate Degree preferred. A comparable combination of education and directly related work experience may be considered.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in repairing and troubleshooting power sports units within the last five (5) years.
  • OEM certifications preferred.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of mechanical and electrical repair and troubleshooting of motorcycles, ATVs, side-by-sides and marine engines.
  • Must be proficient in making proper diagnoses using test equipment, hand tools, special equipment, precision measuring tools, service manuals and specifications.
  • Must possess computer skills.

SKILLS

  • Must possess the organizational and communication skills necessary to be an effective teacher and interact with high school and adult students.
  • Must show evidence of good character, mature attitude and stable personality.
  • Must be willing to remain current in the instructional field and maintain personal certifications and program accreditation(s).
  • Prior teaching or evidence of ability to teach students a plus.
  • Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal working relationships with students, faculty, staff, the general public and business/industry representatives.

GENERAL DUTIES:ย  The Power Sports Technology Associate Instructor is responsible for providing in-person theory and hands-on instruction to adult and high school students to prepare them for employment in the field. Areas of instruction include safety; engines; marine engines; drives, clutches and transmissions; frames and suspension; electrical systems; troubleshooting; etc. The Associate Instructor must monitor, grade and evaluate individual student progress; maintain student records in the college's student records management software; maintain appropriate documentation; submit timely reports; and assist in recruitment of new students and placement of graduates. The Associate Instructor must also maintain good public relations with business and industry, participate in advisory committee efforts and cooperate with outside agencies. This position also supervises and follows-up on students participating in cooperative education. Some travel may be required. This position is full-time and reports to the Vice President of Academics and Compliance. Scheduled work hours are Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Scheduled class hours are 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. This is not a remote work position. This is a grant-funded position. Anticipated start date November 1. Classes scheduled to begin January 2027.

SALARY:ย  $51,149-$61,379 per year ($26.23-$31.47 per hour) Commensurate with Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology salary guidelines and directly related experience.
