Overview

This role will build and lead teams of Software Engineers and system analysts to deliver high performing and scalable IT products and platforms to enable development of enterprise IT solutions, while driving engineering best practices. As an experienced people leader, the Solutions Engineering Manager will be accountable for the team's training, development and performance management. Embrace and incubate emerging technology and open‑source products across all platforms. This individual will be accountable to build and drive a cohesive application strategy in collaboration with multiple enterprise partners and lead the work to modernize our existing tech stacks and platforms. They will collaborate with internal teams to find areas of opportunities for automation and efficiencies while partnering with architects, product owners, and software engineers to drive the build and implementation of new applications and integration with SaaS, COTS systems. This leader will also lead multiple highly complex engineering programs encompassing multiple enterprise functions which may include integration into SaaS and COTS solutions.

Our flexible/hybrid work schedule includes 3 in‑person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations are Salisbury, NC; Chicago, IL; Quincy, MA; Scaraborough, ME.

Responsibilities
  • As a Solutions Engineering manager, take technology ownership of highly complex systems and platforms.
  • As a people manager, hire and develop talent to build, enhance and support the highly complex systems. Lead a team of software engineers, leads and analysts to create an engaged, productive work environment.
  • Responsible for leading the design, configuration, engineering, integration, and implementation of application platforms components and services and advise the engineering teams that work across teams to design, develop, test, implement and support technical solutions across full‑stack development tools and technologies.
  • Lead the team to deliver solutions that are customer focused, easy to consume and create sustained business value within budget.
  • Develop and operationalize new program(s) within each capability areas from RFP, to testing, deployment, assessments, and execution.
  • Provide insight to ensure team builds efficient and scalable applications utilizing best in class tools and services.
  • Responsible for delivering end‑to‑end solutions that are highly available, scalable, stable, secure, and cost effective.
  • Provide expert level technical expertise to drive towards the right and practical solutions that meet the business needs within the required timelines.
  • Promotes an effective team environment through the effective use of mentoring, coaching and development of technical skills. Plans and assigns work within the context of a project /function. Leads by example, demonstrating leadership attributes, depth/ breath of knowledge and experience allows for a wide range of project/functional guidance.
  • Surface insights to leadership, as needed, with recommendations to update and influence outcomes.
  • Lead the evaluation of emerging IT engineering technologies including testing and integration of new solutions.
  • Facilitate communications and resolution activities with IT and business leaders when there is a support issue that materially impacts the business (i.e. P1, P2, bridge calls, etc.).
  • Allocate and manage budgets, materials and technical personnel to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Under the supervision of a Director, lead contract negotiation, invoicing approvals, and 3rd party vendor engagements inclusive of SOW's, PO's, etc. and manage vendor performance.
  • Manage application access reviews, extensions and renewals.
  • Additional job duties may be assigned as needed to meet the needs of the business and support our Values.
  • Ensure operational stability of a 24/7/365 grocery retail environment by providing technical support, system monitoring, and issue resolution which may be required during off‑hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, CIS or related (or equivalent related work experience).
  • 10 or more years of equivalent experience in relevant job or field of technology.
  • 5 or more years of equivalent experience in an advanced role or technical capacity, leading teams directly or indirectly.
  • 5 or more years of experience directly responsible for leading a team of technical team members in relevant technologies, capabilities or skills.
  • Sound judgment and risk mitigation capabilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact with vendors and internal stakeholders effectively coupled with a keen ability to influence others toward a common goal.
  • Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience handling competing priorities with strict deadlines. Ability to prioritize and plan work of the team to meet time‑based deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in relevant field of study, Additional trainings or certifications in relevant field of study.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and directing a team of associates to successful outcomes.
  • Proven experience leading teams using Agile methodologies in a Product/Platform based operating model.
  • In‑depth knowledge of all development and delivery phases of complex technology projects and programs (e.g., discovery, estimation, initiation, planning, design, execution, release).
  • Business Development experience with product solutioning and client engagement in a highly technical environment.
  • Experience leading projects related to modernization and re‑platforming of large‑scale solutions.
  • Experience in retail or grocery preferred.

ME/NC/PA/SC Salary Range: $120,960 - $181,440

IL/MA/MD/NY Salary Range: $139,120 - $208,680
