Job description

The Alaka'ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for a Software Engineer to provide support for our government customer program out of Orlando, Florida.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Software Engineer with experience in C# development across desktop, web, and mobile platforms to join our team in the simulation and training industry. You will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications and systems used for simulation, training, and education purposes. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in object-oriented programming, a passion for innovation, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions.

DESCRIPTION OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Design, develop, and maintain software solutions for desktop, web, and mobile platforms using C# and related technologies.
  • Develop and integrate user interfaces (UIs) that are intuitive and align with user requirements.
  • Test, debug, and optimize code to ensure application performance, scalability, and stability.
  • Support and develop test plans and test cases.
  • Ensure software quality, including writing and maintaining unit tests.
  • Achieve organizational goals while adhering to standards and best practice.
  • Maintain and update existing software applications to meet new business needs or technological advancements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives by identifying opportunities for enhancing the software development process.
  • Document software designs, processes, and systems for future reference and compliance.
  • Ensuring CDRLs and documents are developed in accordance with program specifications.
  • Collecting and accumulating appropriate technical information and data through researching and analyzing technical data and publications, engineering drawings, test procedures, design specifications/documentation, software description documents, engineering documents, and logistics documents.
  • Working in a team environment, taking direction with minimal follow-up to complete a task/project.
  • Travel may be required up to 25%. 
  • Other duties as assigned by Supervisor.

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Engineering, or similar discipline. [Ten (10) years of direct experience may substitute in lieu of a degree.]

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience with frameworks like WPF or WinForms, ASP.NET or .NET Core.
  • Experience in developing mobile applications (Xamarin, MAUI, or related frameworks).
  • Solid understanding of object-oriented programming (OOP) principles and design patterns.
  • Familiarity with relational databases (e.g., SQL Server) and ORM frameworks (e.g., Entity Framework).
  • Experience with source control systems (e.g., Git, TFS).
  • Ability to grasp new concepts quickly; to maintain the confidentiality of sensitive information; strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills to accurately analyze, document and develop technical procedures.
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment.

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

Experience with Navy, Navy training system, or Navy ships is preferred.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Must be a US citizen.
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
