Position Description

Salary Range:$130,ooo-$160,000


Conventus is seeking an experienced Sr. Associate, Software Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will develop scalable APIs, data pipelines, and full-stack, cloud-native applications that power our lending platform. A key focus of this role is contributing to our generative AI initiatives, including building LLM-powered workflows using Claude (Anthropic) and deploying agentic AI capabilities that enhance underwriting, servicing, and customer experiences.


Responsibilities

  • Full-Stack Development:Design, develop, and maintain full-stack solutions including backend services, RESTful APIs, and responsive front-end interfaces; build and optimize data pipelines for near real-time and batch processing using Python and SQL.

  • Cloud Infrastructure:Leverage AWS services (Lambda, S3, RDS, Glue, API Gateway, SageMaker, Amazon Bedrock, Amazon Textract) to build and deploy secure, scalable, AI-powered solutions.

  • Generative AI & LLM Development:Prototype and ship features powered by Claude (Anthropic) and other LLMs, including prompt engineering, RAG pipeline development, LLM output evaluation, conversational workflows, and agentic automation for lending operations.

  • AI & ML Collaboration:Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support AI and ML initiatives including credit scoring, fraud detection, and customer segmentation.

  • Delivery & Quality:Contribute to CI/CD pipelines; monitor and troubleshoot production systems to ensure performance, reliability, and compliance with financial regulations; proactively communicate progress and raise blockers early.

  • Team & Knowledge Development:Contribute to documentation, knowledge sharing, and onboarding; support and mentor junior team members by sharing best practices, assisting with task understanding, and fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement.

  • Data Modeling & Schema Design:Design and maintain database schemas and data models that support scalable, performant lending workflows; apply sound normalization principles and own the data layer underlying the APIs and pipelines you build.

  • Security & Compliance-Aware Development:Build with security-first principles- including data encryption, access controls, and secure API design and maintain awareness of financial services compliance requirements (e.g., FCRA, SOC 2) as they apply to system design and data handling.

  • Code Review & Engineering Standards:Actively participate in peer code reviews, providing constructive feedback and upholding engineering standards around readability, test coverage, and maintainability; take accountability for the quality of your own output and model good engineering practice for junior teammates.

  • Agile & Sprint Participation:Operate within an Agile delivery model- participate in sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives; break down tasks into well-scoped tickets, estimate effort accurately, and deliver consistently within sprint commitments.

  • Cross-System Integration:Build and maintain integrations between internal systems, third-party data vendors, and platforms such as Salesforce; ensure data flows reliably across the lending stack and that integrations are well-documented, monitored, and resilient to upstream changes.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.

  • 2+ years of direct applied AI experience independently owning an AI agent, LLM-powered workflow or intelligent automation end-to-end

  • Familiarity with cloud platforms (preferably AWS) and RESTful API design; exposure to CI/CD tools such as GitHub Actions, AWS CodeBuild, CodeDeploy, or CodePipeline.

  • Hands-on experience with LLM-powered development, including prompt engineering, working with LLM APIs (e.g., Anthropic API), or building RAG pipelines.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, effective communication, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team.
