Required Education
Degree Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or a relevant field.
Years of Experience: 2 4 years of industry experience (experience outside of internships).
Disqualifiers / Policies:
o No 2-year (Associate) degrees accepted.
o Internships do NOT count toward the required years of experience.
o A Master's degree does not reduce the 2 4 year experience requirement.
Top Three Skill
1. Software Development: Strong proficiency in Matlab and Simulink.
2. Validation Testing: Hands-on experience with Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) and Software-in-the-Loop (SIL) validation testing.
3. Communication: Effective written and verbal communication skills.
Additional Technical Skills (Required):
Solid programming experience in C or C++.
Knowledge of reading schematics and data sheets for components.
Knowledge of the full software development lifecycle (from systems analysis through testing and delivery).

Analyze and enhance the efficiency, stability, and scalability of system resources.
Review project requests describing user needs to estimate time and cost required to accomplish the project.
Contribution: Software strategy creation, optimization, and documentation for Caterpillar engine and aftertreatment systems.
Tasks: Engage with software programmers, mechatronics, and validation engineers to solve engine control challenges; develop and document software control strategies for internal customers.
Team Structure: Part of a 15-person team divided into engine subsystem ownership. You will be partnered with a mentor during the onboarding ramp-up period.
Interaction: Engine lab development activities, in-person meetings, and team huddles.
Environment: 90% office-based (for software development). Occasional work in soft labs (development benches) and engine test labs (requires PPE: safety glasses and boots).
