Summary

Supports production, customer service, and new development for machine tools and lathes by developing test equipment, troubleshooting equipment and assisting in developing communication protocols.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in providing troubleshooting and support for the Shop Dept., Production Dept., Customer Service Dept., and Customers via telephone, email, fax, and/or in person.
  • Assists with documentation by relaying information to be included in startup manuals, instruction manuals, troubleshooting manuals, and product procedures for all LNS products.
  • Assists with CAD drawing when needed using AUTO CAD for electrical schematics, interface drawings, panel layouts, and production wiring assemblies.
  • Assists in development of MT Connect by programming API and communications functions.
  • Manages software organization on server by following a pre-defined process.
  • Uses computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks related to electrical projects and electrical interfaces with CNC machines.
  • Reviews sales order from an electrical perspective to provide electrical schematic drawings for shop floor.
  • Contacts OEMs or appropriate sources to retrieve machine mechanical and electrical interface specifications to determine applications.
  • Verifies customer purchase order items to confirm all of the required parts are on the purchase order for the application. Works with supply chain department to define electrical parts needed for applications.
  • Assists Software and Systems Control Manager by assembling electrical wiring, wire lists, panel and enclosure assemblies, fabrication of sheet metal for panels and electrical enclosures, and assisting in application development on new projects.
  • Assists in downloading product software from computer server for parts order entries obtained from Customer Service Department.
  • Assists in testing returned electronic based parts from customers by connecting to personal computer and running diagnostics to determine whether part is re-stockable or needs to be returned to the vendor for warranty.
  • Assists in programing various PLCs & HMI using appropriate logic for brand of PLC.
  • Discusses layout and assembly procedures and problems with Software and Systems Control Manager and draws sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic units.
  • Assemles experimental circuitry (breadboard) or complete prototype model.
  • Recommends changes in circuitry or installation specifications to simplify assembly and maintenance.
  • Sets up standard test apparatus or devices and equipment and circuitry to conduct functional, operational, and environmental tests to evaluate performance and reliability of prototype or production model.
  • Designs test equipment as required.
  • Analyzes and interprets test data. Then reports findings to the Software and Systems Control Manager.
  • Adjusts, calibrates, aligns, and modifies circuitry and components and records effects on unit performance.
  • Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under operating conditions.
  • Provides limited training for the Customer Service Department.
  • Works with Software and Systems Control Technician on various tasks and provides guidance/instruction when required.
  • Assists in training to Software and Systems Control Technician.
