Job description

Skyeton Inc. is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to develop, integrate, and support software systems that enable the operation, control, and mission effectiveness of advanced unmanned aircraft systems (UAS). This position will work closely with systems, avionics, manufacturing, and flight operations teams to design reliable, secure, and scalable software solutions supporting both production and deployed aircraft.

The ideal candidate is passionate about aerospace technology, thrives in a fast-paced startup environment, and enjoys solving complex technical challenges while maintaining the highest standards of software quality, safety, and reliability.

What you'll do
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) systems and supporting ground applications.
  • Develop embedded, desktop, and/or cloud-based applications supporting aircraft operation and mission planning.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, systems, and manufacturing engineers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop software interfaces for avionics, sensors, communications equipment, and payload systems.
  • Participate in software architecture, code reviews, and design discussions.
  • Create automated testing tools and validation procedures.
  • Troubleshoot software issues during integration, manufacturing, and flight testing.
  • Maintain software documentation, design records, and configuration management.
  • Support production, field operations, and customer technical issues as required.
  • Ensure software complies with company quality standards and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to improve software quality, reliability, and maintainability.
  • Support prototype development and rapid design iterations.
  • Travel occasionally to support testing, demonstrations, customer sites, or deployment activities.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related technical discipline.
  • 3+ years of professional software development experience (entry-level candidates with exceptional internship or project experience may be considered).
  • Strong proficiency in one or more of the following:
  • C++
  • C
  • Python
  • Java
  • Experience with Git or other source control systems.
  • Experience with Linux-based development environments.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles and object-oriented programming.
  • Excellent debugging and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
