General Job Description
Is responsible for assisting with programming and athletics activities for children aged 4-15 years old. Assists with games, special events, and programs under the countywide Recreation Department Program. Performs a variety of customer service duties to ensure a pleasant experience at the facility as a representative of the Horry County Parks and Recreation Department.
Under supervision, is responsible for assisting Athletic Coordinators with adult and youth programs, activities, and special events for the Horry County Parks and Recreation department. Develops relationships with community groups and individuals to foster strong positive customer feedback. Work involves the exercise of initiative, sound judgment, and discretion in performing duties. Ensures efficient daily operations within the County Facility and that all work is conducted according to County Policy, codes, and quality standards.
Duties for this Position
Primary responsibilities include assisting the Athletic Coordinator, District Supervisor, Operations Manager, coaches, and volunteers with the day-to-day needs of athletic programming. May be asked to help with programs at the facility, including games, crafts, special events, childcare, athletics, and community events.
Oversees, coordinates, and assists with the activities of all rentals and programs at the recreation facility. Please make sure that the recreation facility is opened and closed, and secured, each day at the appropriate times. Provide friendly, timely, and responsive customer service.
Utilizes CivicRec software to register customers and process transactions. Processes transactions, handles credit card and cash payments. Receives and receipts reservation fees for programs.
Ensures proper operation and maintenance of the facility and its equipment, and ensures that the Center complies with safety policies and procedures. Initiates and supervises safety measures for all activities.
With the assistance of other building staff, coordinates programs and activities with other departmental divisions, County agencies, community organizations, and the general public. Assists with setup, cleanup, and storage for programs, including performing light custodial duties such as trash pickup, sweeping the floor, wiping down counters, etc. Monitors and enforces policies regarding the use of the public building and park lot. Occupancy rate is enforced at all times, including rentals. Maintains a consistent record of building use and updates the supervisor as needed.
Performs general clerical duties as needed, including typing reports and correspondence, copying and filing documents, etc. Receives reviews, prepares, and/or submits various records and reports, including accident reports.
All other duties assigned related to the job.
Position Minimum Requirements
Knowledge of preparing and assisting with recreational programs, athletic activities, clerical skills, and coordinating recreational facilities is preferred. Demonstrated customer service and conflict resolution skills. Desire to contribute to a team environment.
Ability to quickly adapt and learn computer programs, including the use of online software, word processing, financial, and registration software. Critical thinking skills: the ability to problem-solve under challenging situations. Ability to follow directions and take on responsibilities without being tasked.
Additional Information
High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. Associate Degree preferred. 1 year of experience in the Parks and Recreation or building operations management field, or any equivalent combination of education and experience providing the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.
