Summary:
The Development Associate supports the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Development with department and coaches' communications for alumni and supporters and assists in planning and executing fundraising, alumni, and/or other events. The Development Associate provides stewardship to Prairie Star Athletic Fund donors, hosts donor receptions on weekday GLVC basketball games, contributes to monthly donor email, manages sport specific emails and newsletter, works with the University of Illinois Foundation to create CVent marketing platforms for events, and assists with other tasks.
Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Major Donor Stewardship: Provides stewardship activities for major gift prospects and donors and serves asprospect liaison for all gift prospects with giving potential, coordinating all activities associated with securing and stewarding gift commitments. Prepare donor correspondence and other written materials.
  • Annual Giving Solicitation: Manages mass communications for UIS Athletics, including sport specific communication, Prairie Star Athletic newsletter, UIS Athletics appeals, preparing direct mail letters, e-mails and telemarketing scripts and conducting fundraising on social media and crowdfunding platforms. Collaborates with UIS Division of Advancement and UIF staff and resources to implement the plan.
  • Fundraising and Sponsorship Strategy: Supports the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Advancement with fundraising campaigns and revenue generation. Assists in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fundraising and sponsorship goals and objectives.
  • Stewardship: Assists the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Advancement with donor recognition and fundraising events. Responsible for gift acknowledgment and ensuring all donors are appropriately thanked.
  • Athletics Representation: Represents the UIS Department of Athletics at various sporting events, committees, and task forces; promotes existing and new programs and/or policies.
  • Other Duties as Assigned: Perform other duties as assigned including enthusiastically participating in otherstation fundraising and engagement activities and adapting to new work situations, people, ideas, procedures,and organizational structures, in order to accommodate an evolving work environment. May includerepresenting the unit at campus fundraising events and providing staff support to UIS Advancement. Thisposition, while responsible for ensuring an ongoing positive relationship between the volunteers and the unit, is NOT responsible for volunteer training, scheduling, work assignments, or performance evaluations. This position is responsible for assisting in creating, planning, or implementing special events.

  • Minimum Qualifications:
    Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Communication, Marketing or related field.
    Preferred Qualifications:
    Some relevant work, internship, or other related experience with Athletics communication, fan engagement, and/or advancement. Some familiarity with NCAA athletics.
