Aerospace Systems Safety Engineer (Associate, Experienced, or Senior)

Boeing Defense, Space & Security's (BDS) is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our System Safety Engineering Team in Oklahoma City, OK.
Our teams are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including Associate (Level 2) , Experienced (Level 3) , or Senior (Level 4) System Engineers.
At Boeing, Safety is at the core of everything we do. As a System Safety Engineer, you will work across the entire program lifecycle, from conceptual development into design and test, production, and sustainment of fielded aircraft for both USG and International customers. We are looking for candidates that can ask tough questions, challenge conventional thinking, and identify potential hazards to our aircraft and crew. You'll have the opportunity to interface with all levels of Engineering and Program Management as well as our customers.
This is an opportunity to expand your skills in a fast-growing and critical discipline, where you will have the chance to lead appropriate efforts.
Primary responsibilities:
  • Conducts system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantifies impact.
  • Identifies safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practices.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporates into designs, operations, and procedures.
  • Performs or reviews tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements.
  • Creates and maintains aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes.
  • Documents safety analysis, hazard mitigation, validation and verification activities in compliance with relevant customer and regulatory safety standards.
  • Develops and maintains safety and corrective action plans.
  • Assists with demonstrating safety hazard risk mitigations and control methods to the customer and regulators.
  • Ensures mission success through execution of Mission Assurance activities throughout the program lifecycle.
  • Contributes to establishing global safety advocacy strategies, training, tools, and methods.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills and Experience):
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Level 2: 2+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
  • 1+ years of experience in systems, mechanical, electrical, or software engineering
  • 1+ years of experience working across organizations and cross-functional groups to ensure project coordination, implementation and completion

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills and Experience):
  • Level 3: 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Level 4: 9+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience with SAE Standard ARP4754A, RTCA DO-178 or DO-254
  • Experience with the system safety requirements of Mil-Std-882 and SAE ARP4761/4754

  • Associate (Level 2): $82,450 - $111,550
  • Experienced (Level 3): $99,450 - $134,550
